About PC specs: 6 cores 12 threads cpu VS 8 cores 8 threads cpu which to buy?
Hi guys,
I'm willing to upgrade my PC, my motherboard chipset is an Intel Z370 and, as far as I know, it allows me to mount up to an i7-9700k, not sure I can go any further than that, maybe up to an i9-9900k but I wouldn't count on that.
Question is:
What do you think is better for playing C:S? A CPU with fewer cores (6) but more threads (12) like the i7-8700k or a CPU with more cores (8) but fewer threads (8) like the i7-9700k which has only 1 thread per core?
Please let me know before I uselessly spend a ridiculous amount of money :)
Thanks

I think the question is why do you think you need an upgrade?

As for this game, it will max out on a 4-core/8-thread CPU. Any CPU past that it just freeing overhead for other tasks.

As for 6-core/12thread CPU vs. 8-core/8-thread CPU is that the 6-core/12-thread CPU have Hyperthreading CPUs that are good for AI calculations.

While the 8-core/8-thread just has 8 full general purpose CPUs. For general games that has little to no AI abilities, then 8-core/8-thread is the way to go.

This game can control over 80,000 other units simultaneously, so it greatly benefits from the Hyperthreading cores.

With regards to naming folders...
- any original folders in Addons folder (Assets, Mods and so on) there is no reason to change them and better don't do it :)
- whatever subfolders and sub sub folders you create in them - it's up to you
Also... surprisingly, yes , you can change name of folders for specific assets, or you can place just .crp files in whatever folder you want (within Assets folder), but do not change file names at all (that is too much for the game). Game reads .crp files wherever they are - folder names are for workshop when updating, or unsubscribing... Obviously the downside is if you get same asset again, you won't overwrite the old folder in your local Assets folder, because you have changed its folder name.

Mods keep in your original workshop folder (255710 ) so they can be updated. RAM will manage them.

Move map themes to the folder called addons/MapThemes
If you decide to move LUTs as well (they are really tiny files so it's up to you) - I have discovered that they work when placed in MapThemes folder and not ColorCorrections. Now problem here is - that subfolders do not work in this case (for whatever reason) so LUTs, to distinguish them from map themes - first drop them in seperate folder, then rename their folder names by adding whatever you like (I simply added a prefix LUT). And put them back together with all other map theme folders.

Now, once you do it... as i said, it may improve the game a lot, or maybe slightly only. I'm sure mine has improved a lot (stopped crashing on load) when i moved quite a few (50+) map themes to local files folder. And they are huge :)
