Adding an outside rail connection to an existing map midgame.

I see there is a set of mods that allow control over outside connections;

More Network Stuff
Any Outside Connections
Unlimited outside Connections Revisited
AnyRoad Outside Connections
and
Unlimited Outside Connections (Beta)

I gave it a shot and it crashed. It's okay, I've learned. I just took them back out and all is good. Still, I'd like to use them.

Does anyone have experience with how these are to be combined to install them properly and be able to put in an outside rail connection?

Whup whwo! ease up there Cat; You and I both know it's not that easy.

I use Unlimited Outside Connections & Optimized Outside Connections both, But that's probably not the best arrangement & I would never recommend anyone else try it.

What works for me will most likely turn into a disaster for you. You should ALWAYS Read the comments under each item in Workshop before subing. Then choose the one that best matches your needs. Then test. If it works good. If it don't trade it in.
But that's just part of it. We need a lot more information than you're providing to be sure you get the right answer. For instance are you using the 81 tile Mod ?

You got duplication the same mod and take old incompatible at same time, ans sure it's crashed！

Well, I didn't say exactly say I loaded both of them I just found all those mods and tried my best guess as what worked together. I wasn't clear on that because it doesn't matter what i did. Something in my choices was incompatible making whatever I did irrelevant.

The specific mods to be loaded and the order to load them is the question. Yes, Unlimited Outside Connections Revisited is pretty clear that it is a replacement. The obvious one is don't load the duplicates. Excellent. Perfect advise. Leaves me with a warm and fuzzy feeling about the rest. What you didn't say was to NOT use Outside Connections Revisited. So, I'm getting even warmer and fuzzier.

That said, I see you chose Cross The Line rather than 81 Tiles. Is there a particular reason? Does 81 cause any issues or are they essentially the same?

I load and test them one at a time, adding the next after successful controlled exiting and restart. (sets of five if i want to use a more efficient search algorithm. And there is the next question. Is your list ordered specifically in order they should be can be loaded and checked? I will go back and check the dependencies. But I am not sure what other constraints there may be on the order. Or if, for instance, perhaps there are any two that need to be added together. I could just load all that you have suggested at once but I am trying to keep away from that habit now that I've broken it.

That you have given me a complete set is awesome. Thank you very much. There is the thing with this one. From what I gathered, there is a set that needs to go together. So far, More Networks Stuff works. So, with that and this warm and fuzzy feeling that I now have, I can go forward and test them in the order you have listed.

I see you have Optimized Outside Connections. I caught that in a recent search and am curious. I hadn't seen it previously . There are quite a few that seem to go together as a set. Some are replacements for others. When it comes to figuring out what to use and what not, well. The number of combinations goes up a bit exponentially. After three days of loading and testing one at a time, I'm kinda up for good advice rather than striking out on my own.

I'm not always the sharpest tool in the shed and found myself with a list of five potential mods. That has grown now to seven now and I am exponentially appreciative of your advise as to what is working for you. And, just two of them at that. Egg-celent.

Thank you, and don't worry about that, I post to you those mods can enabled same time and just follow my list, it's fine. Just there is one STEP you need to follow too, after you enable any number of mod, you have to exit game once, then run game again, then loading or start a new game, to do like this will avoid problems. Yep you have to do this step.

And "81 tiles" also can work with them, I just saw you want to know how to choose those mods in your list, and reply you for that.

"Optimized Outside Connections" don't need anymore, because "Advanced Outside Connection" can do all of it does and got more functions and more good to control the traffic.

So, here is the issue that I encountered that led me to ask in the first place. Same again. More Network Stuff is fine. But when I install Unlimited outside Connections Revisited, it freezes on game start with a pretty blue window.

Yeah. I do have those dependencies and the loading screen mod.

I don't have any performance issues with this computer. It's no water cooled desktop but I expect it will be a few years before new games give it trouble. Skylines isn't particularly demanding.

Yes, every mod is added with the program unloaded. Then the game is loaded. Content manager has to be checked to make sure the mod is enabled. That done, I Start the game, not Resume, and load the last functioning save. If there is no issue, I save the game, each sequentially numbered, then exit to the desktop. I keep a running list of the mods as they are added. I may start adding the save file number if order becomes an issue. Like I said, I've learned.

Still, despite that Unlimited outside Connections Revisited tanks it.
