Oh and delete any lines running on it first, almost forgot that. Just to make sure the ai connects to the new route properly.
Nope, several attempts with long nicely curved tracks between stations.
I suppose that also means that all the junctions are connected properly as well? Then maybe you're missing a turn in the correct direction? Are all the stations you're trying to make lines to/from on the same rail network?
If you connect two vanilla stations can you set a line running between them. Then add a station to the city, then drag the line to the new connected station?
Although all your stations are connected, us it possible you do not have valid paths between specific pairs of stations?
To confirm, you added stations to city, connected stations with tracks, and drew lines between stations.
Then are you trying to add stations to the city?
Or trying to connect new stations to existing lines?
Which method are you using to try that?
which mods are you using?
have you tried the basic fix of skipping problem stations, clicking the next stations, completing the line, then adding the skipped stations?
2 - it can be very easy to try to connect train tracks with a metro station or vice versa, especially if you use mods like underground train stations and anarchy,
3 - likewise with anarchy mods, it can be very easy to seemingly connect tracks and/or stations together, when they are not - i.e. segments are on top of each other.
If you have issues completing a line, try to implement a line out of each station. If the line does not extend to a specific station to another, you know you have an issue in that specific segment.
Not to insult your intelligence, but do make sure your using train tracks for train stations and metro tracks for metro stations. Its extremely easy to confuse the two and mix them causing lots of problems.
On sueface level its easy to see if the line is connected, you can see if the rails are broken
