Game keeps crashing on loading
The launcher starts up OK. I can get to the main menu. But when I load my city, crashes. I haven't added any mods or assets since I last played several days ago.

My error log says:

Error occurred at 2021-06-20_124204.
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Cities_Skylines\Cities.exe, run by --------.
94% memory in use.
8144 MB physical memory [456 MB free].
40144 MB paging file [0 MB free].
134217728 MB user address space [134207190 MB free].
Write to location 00000000 caused an access violation.

Although that location changes from crash to crash, sometimes 00000010, sometimes 00000020.

The error is indicating that your game is running out of memory. You will need more RAM, a larger page file, or less content.

Wow! I just saw 94% memory in use. Start by disabling your DLC, as they chew up a LOT of mem. (Green Cities, Sunset Harbor...those kind of DLCs)

Interesting comments.

I've had RAM issues when my cities populations get large, but never the game crashing on loading, and this is a new city on a new map with very few people.

I've already done the pagefile thing.

I only have one DLC: Mass Transit. It seems most maps on the Workshop require that or Network Extensions.

Thanks!

It is reporting you only over 8GB of RAM, but you are using 48GB of memory (page file + RAM=48GB of virtual memory).

That is 6 times the RAM limit.

It's a miracle it loads at all.

Make sure you have no other programs running at all. Make sure you exit them, and not close them. They can sometimes stay running if you only close them.

With a 40GB full pagefile I would recommend you reduce the amount of workshop content you're using or upgrade your RAM.

Question: Can I just turn off unneeded content in my control panel? Or do I have to unsub?

I recommend unsubscribing myself as disabled content may still get loaded into memory.

You have to unsubscribe.
You can do a collection so you don't lose all the stuff.
