Parklife - How does it work?
Do parks in parklife have to be fenced?
Example: I have a nice downtown park (central park-ish). 1) I have zoned it as park. Does that already make a difference?
2) It has several pathways AND bike paths leading in and out of it - some of wich pass it higher than street level and have ramps that go on and off inside the park. So I can't put GATES at every entrance. So does it make sence to have a gate at all? Or do people just go to another path to enter the park and just not pay?

You don't necessary need a fence for your parks, but it would look nice. It is a prop like any other props. It is for more or less making your parks look nicer.

Though the only thing I am concern with your park is your point #2. You know that if you have a path that leads in and out of park and that it is not through a gate, then your park may not level up properly because the bikers and people who are using your built pathways and bike paths are considered to "cross-fencing". In other words, they are not paying the ticket to go into your park, therefore you won't be able to get enough number of visitor to level up your park.

Look at the route overlay of your parkzone to find the points where most people enter the park and you have the place to build a gate
I`ve zoned complete mixed districts to city parks and placed gates at strategic points and it works great

Despite being zoned a park, it will not provide the benefits of a park because it has no main gate. The benefits? Increased land value.

It did surprise me that the fences are just props for aesthetics. If the edge of a path built inside the fenced park borders a road on the outside it then firms a path and Cims walk through the fence.

The side gates allows alternative access and look nice but I had wondered if they do count towards numbers or revenue.
I have not read that they definitively do or do not count towards either, and the parks functions are just controlled via the main gates interface when clicked.

The side gates are counting visitors too . I`ve build a park with a big main gate and didn`t connect it to the pathways , only the side gates were connected and it works well
My most ``visited `` park is in the middle of nowhere . I thought the SpaceElevator would be a point visitors would like to see and was very surprised as it began to spawn tourists .
So I made some quick changes and now their quickest route to train and tube is through a park ; they are paying to enter my city

^^^ Excellent way of testing, thanks for posting that information.

Great thinking of boosting the parkvisitors from tourism, even if they did not want to visit, lol.

just figuring out that I can mix and match the different types of parks attractions into each park, once at least one park has been built.

Mixing is possibel . This screenshot is from another city park and u can see the pathway and visitor point of a nature reserve park , it works well . I set an walking tour with some stops to both kinds of pathes and it`s all fine . I think the entrys define the park and maybe a lion cage in a city park does not give the same benefit like in a zoo , but it works .

Btw I enjoyed your discussion about self-serving-cities you had a couple of weeks before with onezerorising , I learned a lot
Vimes Jun 20, 2018 @ 3:59am
It is good to mix, it then gives you a sense tha tthe park itself is more "complete".

Nothing wrong with a zoo having amusements rides, our local one does...!

Don't take my ramblings too seriously :)

Great that you learned a little, probably more from onezerorising than myself, a skilled player there :)

@NewMasterChoco Thanks, that's what I thought too.
@BucketBrain My problem ist not where to place a main gate, it's that there's just no way I could rebuild this specific park into one that can only be entered through gates.

Great work and yes it would be stupid to rebuild it .
There is no need to design an enclosed park system to make some money . Just gates at points where they don`t change the character of the environment would do it at some time . I would make a save and try it - but that`s me

Have fun

@BucketBrain Yeah, I already tried that, but no way with this layout unfortunately. Thanks anyway!

Another problem I've just noticed: the coverage of the park maintenance isn't showing correctly somehow. See here: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1417212105

Anyone else experiencing this problem or know why this happens? Am I overlooking something?
