Replace Zones?

It's been a long time since I played but I thought there was a way to simple replace zones? I've got a new city and high density is now available so I want to replace the housing zones with HD. But it won't let me simply overwrite them I have to unzone the area and then rezone it. I could have sworn there was a way to simply click and replace the zone type that was there.

Unzoning is easy: it can be done using any zoning tool (i.e. also the one you want for the new zone) using the rightmouse button.

you dont need to switch to the dezoning tool... any zoning tool rightclick will also dezone.

The de-zoning tool is only for those who haven't discover the rightclicking de-zone or those who don't have a properly functioning mouse. :D

Well my issue is when trying to rezone is sure I can right click to unzone as I already knew about that. The issues is what happens after that. When trying to zone a space with a bunch of buildings it the tool only fills in the ground under a few of them and the empty space is separate.

So rather than a single click of the highlighted area like when first zoning or what shows when mousing over existing zone. But instead I right click to unzone a large area and then having to left click a bunch of times over all these little areas because it's breaking them up for some reason.

Besides the different types that can be zoned (RCI). The zoning tool also has several settings:
- Fill: Zone whole highlighted area with single click.
- Marque: Zone area by dragging a box with your mouse.
- Brush (two sizes): Zone areas with the mouse pointer as a brush

You should be able to select the different ways to zone just above the toolbar at the left, when the zoning tool is activated. From what I could tell, you want the 'fill' option.
