Waste Processing Complex, is there a limit?
I only have two but they are now both very full so is there a limit to how many you can have? I still have a few recycle centers. Maybe I need a few more of them instead of another WPC?

The only limits involved is how much garbage your city produces and the handling capacity of the garbage service buildings. In your case, yours are at full capacity and so, yes, add more ;)

The WPC is technically one large incinerator, so it naturally reaches capacity at some point.

I wonder if there is a population number that will give you a clue how much each WPC can handle. My first one was maxed out at 68K. Now I'm at around 115K and need a 3rd one. So #2 did not give me another 68K of population. Maybe because the first one had the help of recycle centers and now I've just been using only the Waste Transfer Centers.

Do you find it better to place the Waste Processing Complex around your city or just place them all in one area were they have good highway access to all parts of the city?

I strictly use the recycling centers as they provide goods for generic industry (yellow zoned) and help a lot on traffic.

But each service building has a limit. It should have a capacity and current usage.

But I find you need more than that, especially as the city grows. I don't know what a WPC is?

EDIT

Ah, maybe I should have looked at the pics in the first reply. lol I thought it was from some one else.

but the waste processing complex is just another garbage service. It has greater capacity. But I like the recycling center for the raw materials for generic industry. If you don't use generic industry, then WPC will be fine.

I use some generic industries, also have some recycle centers. This is my first city with the SH DLC and all the new garbage and water treatment stuff. The DLC makes it sound like the Waste Processing Complex can handle a big city, well 70K is not a big city, unless they consider unlocking 9 tiles a big city!

I'm thinking I need to see how many recycle centers I need for a city of 115K versus the new Waste Processing System. In the end it sounds like I should use a mix of both and just monitor what is going on. My current city does not have a garbage problem. I just happen to notice the Waste Processing complexes are max'd out.

I haven't used the WPC but don't they have a chain of them that needs to be used for different processing tasks? I didn't even know it was added to the game, and I purchased SH. lol

Edit:

I found this that explains it better than I can:

I don't have SH, but there's almost certainly no limit.

They're coded basically the same as using a combination of auto-emptying hearses and crematoriums, jut for garbage instead of corpses. The WTF will get matched to a close-ish WPC with capacity available, so prefer spreading out the WPCs.

(It looks like a WPC is coded as a level 4 incinerator, though I don't have the DLC to confirm.)

So right now I have to Waste Processing Complex building in one area. I think what I'll do is put a new one in another industrial area I just started which is on the other end of town. That way all the trunks don't bunch up in one area. I actually moved the two Waste Processing Complex buildings I had out of my starting industry area because they where contributing to a traffic jam. Now they re out by the unique factory, warehouse, oil, forest, and farming industries. This area has a really good high traffic road network/highway access.

I don't have a garbage problem and the Waste Transfer Facilities seem to work good. You can put them right in commercial zones and just a few tiles away from residential zone on a small side road. Just watch the noise ring when placing. The pollution is 10 so not a problem. Noise is 25 which is 25 less then the standard metro stop.

Thanks for all the comments.
