Do you have enough educated students wanting to go to college? Are you using the vanilla colleges? Do you have the School's Out policy activated?

The numbers will increase as you grow the city. I have a 71k pop city that has 4200 students total between two unis. At your population you should be able to support around 1000 students. Maybe a bit less because you don't get as many foreign exchange students at low uni level.

Are you providing the two tiers of education below uni? Check your numbers in the tabs. Make sure you are well in the green for elementary and high school. Also use the education boost policy.

An addendum on the previous point. It will take a while to catch up to maximum possible attendance after setting up the above properly. This is because you have to wait for the current generation of students to make it through the schools. It'll take a couple game years for everything to balance out properly once set up right.

Definitely do not use any other buildings that provide university level education. The potential students will split between them. Just pretend the old uni buildings don't exist if you are using the DLC. They do not have to be in coverage to attend. Coverage just helps the zones level up, you can make up for the difference by going heavy on other services.

You don't need to be using the uni policies. Not sure what the direct calculation between happiness and attendance is but it doesn't seem to be very impactful. I personally only use the Fan Club Support and Sponsorship Deals policies.

Do you have the city-wide policy that encourages university education active? In my current city, my first university was suck at about 1000 university students for ages until I realised I didn't have that policy active. As soon as I switched it on, student numbers immediately went to about 2500.

Thanks everyone! I have plenty elementary and high schools but I see the university policy only come at 28K population which I am not at yet!

When is good to start the DLC university as I dont want it to interfere with the current trade school?

Thanks

I'm no expert but for me I always wait until around 50K population before building a university. Before that I just use the standard university. Once I start building the university I delete the old standard university. Even at 50K cims, the number of cims wanting to go to university is a small percentage of your population. Remember you have elderly, babies, adults, high school, and elementary school cims. Not everyone is the right age to go to university.

This is frankly insane. The DLC uni can provide your uni at a portion of the cost and return some of the cost to you in tuition. You barely need more than the base building and a dorm for most of the time.

30K 60K 90K pop for all 3 campuses with an education boost. Not sure without.

If you are playing with Industries DLC don't make any Unis/campuses until you get all 4 zones to level 2.

If you are doing rapid development, you can start the 2nd Campus when the first one is on level 4, as it will require at least 2 years to get final academic works.

I also find Trade School bonuses lackluster.
LVL1 - police
LVL3 - tourism
LVL5 - zoned industry

I usually skip it and leave it to be the last one, I start with Arts (education, garbage & office) cuz it gives an early bonus to Education which in turn benefits all campuses on the way, and I develop trade as the third.
