Low FPS?
Sorry if these kind of posts are frequent, but I'm really not sure why my FPS are fairly low. When I first start a map I get about 35-40 fps, but that quickly drops to 15-20 fps as my city builds up.

I have an Intel i5-8300h, Geforce 1060ti, and 16GB RAM. I run most games at a solid 60fps but Cities Skylines doesn't run that smoothly. Not even when my laptop is plugged in. Plugging in makes no difference on fps.

Was there anything that stood out in the other FPS threads that seemed to be consistent as to why it drops?

You need to know that the game runs at 30 fps with a 9900k and a geforce 2080 ti.

The engine is just limited and you can't pretend that much

This is a city simulator, not an FPS. Framerates aren't a priority.

He asked why FPs are low, not if Fps are a priority.

FPS are low because FPS aren't a priority.

But why wouldn't having the game at a playable FPS be a priority?

There are many guys on this forum that claim they play games on 10 fps and they are pretending they don't see the difference and they are fine, thus justifying the game. Don't bother.

Yes I have played at 5 FPS. I enjoyed the game even at that rate... just set back and let the simulation run...It is all the computer could generate, as I was pushing the processor to the limit.

I have upgraded my old computer to where I now play at 15-20 FPS... (newer processor, and a newer 4gig graphics card) The game is enjoyable, and I set back and let the simulation run.

I am Very thankful that CO did not prioritize Frame rate, at the cost of the actual simulation. This game does not require quick reactions, where seeing something this millisecond is important.

I use first person camera many times during a play session, to see what my city looks like, and I have smooth pleasing drives around my city, at 20 FPS, with High graphics settings. I catch things I need to fix. Would a faster FPS make any difference in the way I play the game, or build my city... NO it would not.

Now if you are convinced that 60FPS is what you need to enjoy the game, that is your personal choice, but not one CO chose to make.

As I have said many times before, every time you watch your TV, or go to the movie theater, you are watching events happen at 30 FPS or less.

Since 1927, the standard frame rate for film has been 24 fps (frames per second). For TV the standard is 30 fps for NTSC (National Television System Committee – the system used in North America, Japan and many other areas around the world), 25 fps for PAL (Phase Alternating Line – the system used in Europe, parts of Africa and SE Asia).

24 fps is not the minimum required for persistence of vision – our brains can make a continuous moving picture with as little as 16 fps

It's nice that you enjoy the game at 5 fps. Why you upgraded your Cpu and videocard?

Mine was at 4fps and that was my hometown at 45k buildings and 325,000 population.

We can ask Colossal Order to make Cities Skylines 2 run at 4 Fps, since it's perfectly playable.

I enjoy tinkering, finding deals on old computers, and combining them into a newer computer. It is amazing what people will give away, or sell to me for $20 US dollars.
