Cities: Skylines
Cities Skylines vs Simscity - Which One Should I Get?
I've been reading the reviews for both games. . .Both seem like they have a fair amount of pros and little cons. I'm leaning more towards Cities Skylines but I also can't help but look towards Simcity. Can someone help me decide which one to get? (haha, I am not great with decsion making. . .)

Which Simcity, the latest ?

Well, to be honest I prefer fairly more SC4 than CS because of the management focus and depth, however the latest Simcity falls short quickly. With CS at least you can have a lot of content if you wait sales and so the game is at least a great slow-paced game to relax.

Simcity 2013 is a bit more ambitious in fact and ideas are great..on paper because challenge is not really there and SC atmosphere has gone. It is worth TRYING but CS is more worth BUYING. The main reason is beacause of SC content. Even playing with regions, it will fall short.

Note that I do not play with mods

I prefer Simcity and it's gameplay. But it only has one tile to build on which really sux. I'd recommend both. They both have their merits and Simcity is easier to learn as it only has 1 tile. Most of it is transferable to C:S so it won't be a waste and make C:S more manageable.

C:S has a lot of content and land area. Be careful of the workshop. They can do more harm than good until you learn the game without them.

If you only get one, then I'd say C:S. but getting both is better.
Sim City 4 was a classic, but it is renowned for having been released half heartedly. That is to say many parts of the game are dysfunctional or not even there at all (like tier 3 industry jobs). Most of this is addressed by the community through a giant third party package that attempts to address the most obnoxious issues with some success, though because of the scale of the mod, it isn't largely compatable with other more creative or specialised ones. The most significant improvement though is of the traffic path finding. The grid system was more to my liking and the depth made it more challenging, but half the challenge is simply because the game wasn't refined properly by the developers.

CS is far more casual of a game experience for me, the opening phase(s) are quite difficult, especially if you make any attempts to plan ahead, but eventually after 3-4 milestones, the city becomes almost self-sustaining in terms of profit making and growth. There's far more freedom to build, but that at times annoys me like when roads don't align by 1 tile. :steamsalty:
