What is Citizen Units and where they are used?
In the past few weeks, I have been troubleshooting a bug that occurs in my latest city savefile (Imus City.crp), I noticed the unusual very high Citizen Unit count, which is at 120k, while my city's actual population is only 20,000. Tried disabling some mods as described on the "Low population bug?" thread, and started a new city, but even on a empty map of 0 people, I still get 70k citizen units for no reason.

What is "citizen units" and where they are used in the city? Is there a way to clear them all like traffic?

I would suspect a "citizen units" is a pedestrian or agent that is walking around waiting for transit sort of thing.

I know Citizens are your population total and Citizen Instances are the agents, I don't recall the Citizen Units. Maybe outside connection agents? Maybe households? Maybe eligible workers?

Try asking KnightHawkGP, he is the author of CSL Shoe More Limits and has dissected all of the limits of the game. He as trying to increase them around the time After Dark released, iirc. It's been a long while, I can't remember that far back, and it didn't seem important to me at the time.

I left a comment on the mod page and is waiting for a response, but he seems to be inactive currently.

I was asking because it is so strange to have 70k citizen units on a empty map of 0 people, they do nothing (as there is no city for them) other than slowing down my simulation, because the game thinks I have a 70k city already. Maybe that's also causing the low population bug, as many of the population is being simulated, but they are not spawning on the map.

Oh, you mean the empty map is reporting 70k cims. My tired brain seemed to miss that part last night. lol

I'll fire it up again and do a quick test.

But citizen units do nothing. It is just a tally of seemingly current citizens of your city.

I fired it up, and it seems that it is all freight. Was this a full city at one time and you dezoned the whole map? It could be it is still operating from the many buildings still in the game. I get 80k citizen units on the empty map.

Maybe the Citizen units are outside connection cims (influx)? But this city is like 8 years old, so it has been simulating a long time.

But it sounds like you have lost population and the city is trting to keep itself alive and not collapse while you recover.

Yes, I removed the city by mass bulldozing, only the roads remain. What you see is the current freight at the new industrial estate I built complete with district name.

Yeah, it's just residual affects of the advanced AI that ngets enable in whole or part throughout the game. Has it went down any? Time is so slow, my x3 speed is still x1.

Any particular reason you wiped the map clean?

FYI, I removed all assets and it seems fine. No changes. Even on Imus city (I loaded it by mistake) seems fine. But you have a lot of OP type assets that can have issues with the game.

I've removed a lot redundant mods already.

like 81-tiles mod doesn't need any cross the border mods. Multiple outside connection mods, multiple camera mods, etc.

Youm may want to thin out the herd, so to speak. It's a wonder this thing works as it is. lol

The citizen units, when left running while zoning, increases it more.

The active vehicle count is moving between 5,000-7,000, because of despawning.

I had to mass bulldoze the city as it contains some inaccuracy plus doesn't match to my "standards".

The speed has always been at x1, no matter what. My other cities that had no issues can run at x2 or x3 speed.

I'll try do more tests by playing around the mod settings to see if anything changes by the time I get back into the game.

I'll consider using Save Our Saves by BloodyPenguin if the issue is the actual savefile.crp, not the city or Workshop.

I've been told that a Citizen Unit is an object that encapsulates a citizen, their vehicle, their home, etc. I can't imagine why there'd be so many extras.

Citizen represents an individual cim in the game, Citizen Unit represents a group (up to 5) cims which can be grouped in some way, e.g. sharing a home, workplace, vehicle etc
