How does one clean the poop out of a lake?

Does the floating trash collector clean the poop in a lake or what is it really good for? I've been using the eco sewer drains in the beginning but they still put out a fair amount of poop until you can unlock the next plot of land (I'm using one of the eco areas).

For that area will I have to put a canal down and let the water flow out?

I have found the floating trash collector works. It takes awhile so if you have the resources, having multiple units helps speed up the process.

Thanks I'll put one in and see if that helps.

Update: seems to take forever though once you do put some on the water.

i usually hand out free corks to my sims.
they all look very bloated

Just thinking....you could use a water pump connected to a clarifier....thats a mod though

I ended up digging a big ditch, preferably do this closest to a river where you can purchase the land later on. Placed water pumping stations in the poop lake, then fresh water outlets in the big ditch connected with a completely separate water pipe ie, don't let it come in contact with any of the normal water pipes. The ditch will eventually fill with the poop water. Once you have bought the land near the river, use a deep canal to force the yucky water out of the ditch into the river.
