Tram routes not connecting
I have an ongoing problem with tram routes. At a certain point in my game when I add tram tracks to existing tram track, or upgrade tram roads to a new type of tram road, the routes won't cross the old to the new. So if I have a whole stretch of tram track and I upgrade the last segment to a new type of tram track, the tram route will not connect between them. Or, if I already have a route on the track it is broken and can't be reconnected no matter how I shift it. The only way I can fix this is to upgrade every single bit of track from end to end and then recreate the routes. This is incredibly frustrating to do every time I want to add to my tram system. Please help!

use steam to screenshot what you are describing to give a better idea.

"when i add tram tracks to existing tram tracks" is a bit confusing.

to put it in simpler terms: at a certain point I had a tram system that was all working. but any time I try to add track to it, the routes won't connect between what was there and what I added. I will try and get a screen shot

The first image is the route as it was originally. Next I try to drag that stop to the random track I've added but no matter what I do it will not connect with the rest of the route. The crazy part is that if I "upgrade" the next section of track to another type and then back to the original type it connects fine. Only then it doesn't connect with the next section!

With some additional tram tracks, it can happen that if you connect the tram road it only connects to the left or only to the right. Delete this road again and draw it from a different angle. Mostly 90 degrees is advised.

Jvon, from the photo you provided I cannot think of a single thing that would prevent you from placing a tram stop where you have indicated. If you want to upload your city to the workshop I will check it out to see if I find what is going wrong.

So in addition I'm having trouble with the whole thing lagging like crazy. I stopped playing for a few weeks because of the tram route problem and when I came back the tram problem was fixed but then came the lag. Yesterday I spent hours trying to fix the lag and I did eventually although I have no idea how. Then when I tried to add more to the tram network the tram route problem came back and with it the lag.

Wow, without any of your workshop collection I was able to open the file. It opened without TrafficManager, Industries and the workshop tram roads. This does mean I couldn't take it off pause. Anyways I am wondering if you are having issues with those tram roads.

Hmm, TrafficManager was updated late May so this might be why when you came back the tram issue was gone. Now it sound like TrafficManager or those roads and Traffic Manager.
Edit: Just guessing though.

So you're saying its the type of tram roads? And I should update traffic manager?

TrafficManager auto updates. I am saying it did update and that why(possibly) things were fine when you came back. I'm thinking the update made TrafficManager able to ignore the issue till you tried to make another line.
Either way I am guessing for I don't use those roads nor TrafficManager. If you downloaded a tram car asset it too could be the issue. Best to wait for someone willing to download all the workshop items and do a proper test. I only mention my guess in order for you to test certain things while you wait and possibly stumble across a solve.

I loaded into your city and immediately the transit network unglued - trams, rail, roads, the whole lot. So I am not able to comment on your city. However, I did try to reproduce what you were talking about in my own city, and I was able to do so where a tram stop would not go through or on a new piece of tram track for an already in place line. I will probably give it a proper ticket on the official forums soon, so maybe the issue will be addressed in the next patch - well, I won't hold my breath.

Gotcha thanks for looking at it. I found a work around, if I want to add to my tram network I have to add all the track, then save and quit, and when I come back the routes all work. Kinda silly but whatever.
