Do recycling centers only produce metal ore?
I don't seem to get any oil, wood or crops from them.
Do they produce any intermediary materials, like plastic?

They produce raw materials, but not intermediary.

Well, apparently they don't even produce all raw materials. I read a dozen different sources. They all say the same thing as you, but not even one mentions that they only produce ONE raw resource, namely metal ore. No oil, no wood, no crops.
Makes sense and seems realistic, but I still wonder how come no one bothered to mention what kind of raw resource exactly they produce.

OK, I know now what caused me to wrongly believe that recycling centers only produce metals. RCs only send materials to generic warehouses, never to industry-specific warehouses; not even if you close down all your generic ones. If you only have a sand storages or crude oil tanks, the materials will be exported.
It gets more weird. I also discovered that unique factories never take materials from warehouses, except raw materials, and only if they're stored in industry-specific warehouses, and only if those industry-specific warehouses are located in the industry zone they belong to. You can get a bakery to obtain crops from a grain silo, if both are located in a farming zone. You cannot get a sneaker factory to obtain its crops from a grain silo, if they're located in an oil zone. In short, unique factories can only receive most of their materials either directly from the facility that produces them, or from direct imports, and almost never from warehouses.
Are my conclusions correct, or am I just doing something wrong?

This isn't vanilla behavior. They should be able to get deliveries from any grain silo or warehouse regardless of what zone these are in. Sounds like a mod altering the behavior, possibly a district service limiter.
