How to create mountains in Map editor?

Hi Guys,

I just started creating own maps in Cities Skylines. Creating rivers, shores and islands are easy enough, but I can't seem to create realistic mountains with the editor tools. They always look off, not natural at all.

Can someone give me tip on how to make realistic mountains in the map editor?

There's no quick and easy way to teach you either. There are a number of ways to do it.
1. You could sculpt them by hand... very long and hard work.
2. Import a height map of a real world location from https://terrain.party and then tidy it up in the map editor.
3. Use a 3rd party landscaping generator such as the World Machine to create a mountainous terrain for example and then import the height map of it.
