Polluted sea problem
Hi everybody, I have a problem:

I replaced water drain pipes by water treatment plants when my city had 14000 residents... it in now has more than 30 000 and the sea is still as polluted.

How to fix the problem please? :steamsad:

Have you tried to move the water intake pumps farther way from the area? It might be you are taking enough water to reduce the flow in the area. As well the placement of the sewage treatments plants can now be moved out from that place. That does look to be a difficult place for fresh water to flow past to clean the area ( to push pollution off the map). After moving your water assets if the area still has issue cleaning itself out I would suggest back filling the triangle shape area out to improve the water flow past the area.

Is that the Cliffside Bay map? If so you're heading for trouble as the only water source is the bay water into which you are pumping your sewage. The clue to the solution is to use the elevation of the cliffs in order to place water towers safely away from any ground pollution produced by your industry. Use the water towers as your source of drinking water and not the sea.
Alternatively, you could use this asset to stop polluting the sea ;)

As for the current water pollution, you can use this mod to remove it all, but remember that if you continue to use the water treatment plants, it only cleans 85% of the sewage, so it will still be pumping a smaller amount of sewage into the sea.

First, pause the game and take careful note of the current water surface level.
Then using the water tool, reduce the sea level to zero.
Unpause and then pause again.
This will remove all water from the map.
Now use the water tool to return the sea level back to it's original value. Use the marker you noted beforehand to make sure it is at the same level.
Unpause and voila! Yor seas are now clean again ;)

@OneJasonBradly > Thanks you for your answer, I tried to move water pumps and treatment plants farther or the polluted zone but nothing changes.

@grapplehoeker > Thanks for your tips but don't want to use mods for the time being.

If you don't wish to use mods then you can use the water pumps from the game. Put a short length of pipe on the pump BUT DO NOT CONNECT IT TO YOUR WATER SYSTEM. It will then slowly pump out the polluted water.

You can use the same technique to clear up after a tsunami with standing water in low lying areas.

@barrygreybeard > Thanks you for your answer, I tried to place water pumps on polluted zone but it don't works :

- If I don't connect the water pumps to the city (but just a pipe is connected) : pumps don't works.
- If I connect the water pumps just to an power plant (to use water) and a drain pipe farther : pumps works but pollution remains.
- If I connect the water pumps to my city : inhabitants becomes sick and dies and pollution remains.

it says it is not working but if you look you will see that the water is actually being sucked up....

I tried to pump the polluted water by connecting it to my city, result: 1 year after
2/3 of the inhabitants became ill and then died, and about 1 third of the pollution is gone.
I tried to pump the polluted water and connect it to only 4 solar power plants, result: several years after the pollution is almost the same.
I tried to pump the polluted water and connect it to just a pipe, same result: several years after the pollution is the same.

I'm lost !! :steamsad:

you probably need quite a few then! and all you need do is connect a short length of pipe. Its not instant it will take time but quicker than letting it just sit there...

Would you mind taking a screenshot that will show the "water flow arrows" like my screenshot?

when you select to place another pump or sewage, these arrows in the water will appear. This is the screenshot that could help to see.

There is no need for that. The map he is using is one of the default maps, Cliffside Bay. Check it for yourself.
This map is known to have a static body of seawater with almost no movement or flow. So any addition of sewage to that body of water will just grow and grow. There is no safe area of it to draw water from it safely over time.

You can use overflow outlets to force a flow. Its what I have done on the same map. I use the bayside cliffs as sewer outlets with the overflow outlet to force the flow off-map.

I went further than that. I simply edited the map and gave it a river ;)

Yeah that works too. But the OP is in game so, simple solutions :p.

Also another tip; You can make a canal and lead it to the edge of the map and place all your sewer outless alongside. This makes a clean flow right off the map edge.

I've tried the sea level move out/in solution but doesn solve my soil pollution problem.
I don't know why, but my map became polluated somehow. Since the, i can't find a way to solve this. https://we.tl/t-cQ6JWcZ1rK I've tried the mod but it does solve the issue. Now the soli pollution is negative value, may be for that reason?
