Differences between metro and trains
Hi
What's the difference between them? Can't see it now that metro can also go above the ground. I normally use metro in shorter distances and train in long, but i don't know if it's better to change everything to train or to metro so i don't have two transport nets in my city.

Thanks

I asked myself the same question, now that both can go underground and above. Still, metro stations are smaller ( 2 by 2 ) and some of them invisible when part of a hub. So that's still less trouble to have an underground metro, compared to the train that has to go above at least for the station.

About passengers 240 for train and 180 for metro if they haven't changed that, without mods of course.

If we talk about speed, they're supposed to have the same acceleration, but train have a bigger max speed. 120 km/h against 100. There's an unique building that makes train faster, so not sure about the numbers i just gave. Could be 5% more for trains. And again, that's if nothing changed in SH.

I won't talk about money, i've no idea I haven't played with money recently and they changed things about metro.

There are three types of trains: trams, monorails, and traditional trains. I'll assume you are referencing all of them, and for me the biggest difference is that you can still maintain the structural integrity of your city using trams and monorails because those transit types can be built over your existing infrastructure. Monorails float over your traffic (with +30 capacity to boot), and trams only affect your traffic flow at intersections provided you only use them on avenues.

And, obviously, theyre both a lot cheaper to maintain than metro after this latest update. So, there is that too.

Metro can have underground stations, trains can do cargo.

the game's mainline trains have an overhead wire power system above the tracks. Metro trains use a 3rd rail.

Good point about the speed: both traditional train and monorail have the top speed in the game at 24, and I think metro is a bit slower at 21 if I remember right. Also, metro capacity is 150 now, and I believe it was this way before the Sunset Harbor as well. Monorail has always had a capacity of 180. And, it is the big clocktower that gives the speed boost to in-game trains, though I am not sure if it applies to all trains or just a specific variant.
