My RCI bar is dead
Since 4 days my RCI bar don't move and it's start to destroy my city.

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=816994862

Here's the problem: all of my commercials have suddenly begun to close because the game said that there were not enough merchandise to sell while there were enough industries. So I tried to specialize in the forestry industry.

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=816994903

This solved the problem but not enough. Then I tried to relocate to produce better but the RCI bar has emptied and no longer wants to fill so nothing is built.

I tried to destroy everything but nothing happens, the bar remains empty and at this point my city dies without I can do anything. For the mods I installed 2 and even desactivated my problem persists.

I hope you can help me because even though this is my first city I don't want to lose it.

I don't think there is any reason to panic, initially it sounds as though you may have traffic problems causing the warning messages. as for the rci at zero that happens when the city is trying to catch up, the simulation takes time to settle down and with businesses abandoning it will take even longer. You can always stimulate R growth by using services and parks etc, maybe you could share a saved game in the workshop and post the link here, its difficult to tell issues just from screen shots.

Show a picture of your RCI zone maps. It sounds like you have over zoned now, i.e. you have RCI zoned, but they are still empty, so they need to fill in. You wouldn't get demand. i.e. if they are still empty they won't ask you to zone more empty roads.

Or it could just be like barry said, your city is still leveling up and creating and fulfilling its own demands.

I created a backup and i found this mod:
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=409776678
I tried it and a noticied an interessting thing:
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=817064091
As we can see the demand for all services are between -2 an -9 but at the same time i loose commercials because they don't have merchandise.

I would not use that mod to adjust rci, there is absolutely no need, not to solve your situation anyway. yes when the day/night cycle was added it also added demands that fluctuate during the 24 hour period.

Okay. You can try my map if you want and i will try to find solutions and resolve my traffic problems.

It might be a fun mod to play with but I wouldn't rely on it to alter the way the game plays, I am not a fan of mods that alter the fundamental balance of the game (like traffic/road mods too) I'd rather treat this as a game and learn the rules first :) Then add a load of mods and mess it up :)

Had a look, your traffic is terrible! I checked with the no despawn mod activated which gives you a real idea of whether delivery trucks are reaching their destination etc. The other thing, you need to add lots of parks, make everywhere blue, at the moment they are all red and your land value is way down. There is no residential demand because no one wants the live there :)

So, traffic and parks is the way to go!

Traffic and parks, ok. Thanks for the tip. I also prefer to play in vanilla version (especially on Space Engineers) but when I reached the status of megalopolis, I was frustrated not to be able to buy more tiles and I did not resist...

Btw this is really a great game and I hope to learn from my mistakes to make better cities.

I will try to post when my problem is solved.

Your city is fine. I loaded it up and your city is growing fine. You just zoned too much Residential, Commerce, and Industry and you have to wait for them to fill in. There are huge empty zone of green, blue, and yellow everywhere.

Either unzone those empty areas to stop growth, or wait it out. all is fine. well, other than your initial problem of goods delivery.

A few other thing.

Forestry supplies generic industry, not commerce.

Forestry doesn't work well unless you build them in the forest. otherwise they import everything which defeats their purpose.

Commerce is too far away from industry. Try to keep them closer together for best results.

Watch your import exports over lay map (outside connections). You shouldn't have any importing/exporting of goods (purple). Importing goods means you are lacking in generic industry. Exporting goods means you have excess generic industry.

Remember, this is an agent based city builder, which means agents (vehicles/citizens) need to get from point A to point B in a timely manner or bad things happen.

Watch out for long roads and dead ends also one-way roads as they impede traffic and limit ranges.

Forestry doesn't supply commerce, it supplies industry, so they should be near each other, or link two cargo train stations together so lumber can be delivered to generic industry on time.

This should be enough information for now.

Intreressting. Thanks for these infomations. I already started to place generic industries more closer to the forests industries, but i will continue tomorrow.

Just one question: it seem very qualified people don't want to take industries jobs, so if we force some residentials to have a small education they will take these job right?

The benefits from a well educated city far outweigh any industrial concerns. Always try to provide a good education for all Cims. Keep your unemployment rate at 10-15% and you will find that well educated Cims will be forced to work anywhere there is a vacancy, regardless of educational requirement for the vacancy. Of course they will prefer to fill 'better' jobs first but once those have all been filled, they will work anywhere.

No, never make cims stupid, that is stupid. lol

I mean, if you want workers to go to menial jobs, just keep unemployment high. Above 4% maybe higher if you use mods say 10% or higher.

Cis take the best jubs they can first. So no one works for specialized industry if they have better opportunities elsewhere. So with high unemployment, they are basically forced to take menial jobs.

If you take away education, soon you'll get not enough educated workers. But no one complains of overeducated workers.

I plan to build the Eden Project but for the moment clean the water is not enough.
barrygreybeard Dec 13, 2016 @ 7:08am
get rid of your water drain pipes and replace with the treatment plants!
