My experience with death waves (water pollution)
It's safe to say that the only reason citizens ever really get sick is by water. And three times have i dealt with these massive amounts of sick people. First time, I accidentally made the citizens drink sewage. Second time, a had a dam which pushed the sewage water upstream into the water pumps. And third time, (i'm still confused about this one) i had split my water sources so if they get sick it wouldn't doom my city, but for some reason my pipes were polluted. I checked everything and I still don't exactly know why, but I figured out that replacing the pipes made the sickness go away. Tell me if I'm the only one who deals with this constant problem.

I rarely have death waves, I use NO Pollution sewage outflow pumps.

Don't forget if you place water towers in industry, or oil, it will pollute your water system.

Oops, I forgot to add that all forms of pollution (Land, sound, or water) can cause deaths. There is no actual sickness in the game. You can only poison cims. So keep sound and ground pollution away from residential and you won't even need healthcare, except for happiness bonuses.

I didn't have a single water tower when it happened. Also, I know that they can get poisoned in other ways; i'm just saying polluted water is always 9 times out of 10 the issue. Probably cuz it's so easy to screw up

Try and search this forum for death waves and you might find some answers. :)

not if you know what you are doing. place intake up stream and sewage outlet downstream, both should be as far a part as possible: if both of these rules are followed then there is no chance of polluting your water

I use this;-
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=598257515&searchtext=no+pollute
IT has another tab in water options and is accessible from day one

What does your pollution overlap map report for water pollution. If it says anything but zero, then you have poisoned your cims to death. Check the water overlay to see which pipes are brown and follow the trail to the source.
I used the Eco Water Treatment Station (Green City DLC), compared with default one that reduce the pollution by 85%, Eco Water Treatment Station reduce the pollution by 94%, so all I do is put them on the start of the river, then put the pumping station at the end of the river.

But that's the thing that confused me. I looked at the pollution-vision and it was very unclear on where the source was. It was like some pipes were good, some not as much. It was very arbitrary. Water pollution was at 7% though. All I did was literally replace the pipes and put them in the exact same spot and everything was fix. I was very thorough. I even connected it to other water systems of my city and it either did nothing, lowered the amount of sick people just a little bit, or spread the sickness to the other water systems. It was very inconsistent. But I'm doing fine now and my pop has increased by 20k more.

Replacing water pipes does nothing. It will still be polluted.

If you replaced them in different locations, then maybe you bypassed a pump?

But the water view has the clearest picture to find the offending pump. Just follow the brown pipes to the pump and move the offending pump.

Glad you got it working, but apparently you didn't figure it out, so it may come back.
