I know we're probably half a decade away from a sequel, but I wanted to start a thread to talk about features you want added to the game that wouldn't likely be added through DLC.

Some ideas I had:

-Complex economic simulation: The current land value system is too simplistic. It's pretty uninteresting that schools + parks + time = profit. I would suggest adding things like economic class to cims. It would be really interesting having to balance increasing land values and the ability of your cims to pay for them. This would lead to things like gentrification and homelessness being interesting political problems for you to grapple with.

-Buildings that grow beyond zoning (or just bigger zones): 4x4 buildings are just too small. I know that increasing the max sizes for building too much would require a ridiculous amount of new assets, but there's another way: have buildings fill out space with generic ground textures and props (ex: two houses sitting on a curved street having yards that connect, rather than just an ugly triangle of unkept grass between them). This would be great for industry, too. Instead of having to use ploppable fields, field textures could just fill out unused space behind the zoned area.

-Parking lots and garages: honestly, I don't know why these aren't already in the game. Adding parking to the traffic simulation would make it even more interesting. I know there are mods, but it would be great if they were an integrated feature.

-Certain service buildings (particularly colleges and hospitals) working like parks in the park life expansion. Tiny colleges look a little silly IMO. It works as a stand in for a small community college, but I want to build a proper campus. This could also allow those buildings to have certain specializations (like a law school addition to a campus that increases the land value of nearby offices or a hospital psych ward which increases happiness). It's kind of like the modular service buildings of SimCity 2013, but more spread out and in a better game.

Medium density commercial and residential, low to high wealth residential, commercial, office, industrial, medium and high density office and industrial, beach as park and park areas, more types of accomodation such as motel, hostel, budget hotel, resort hotel, intercity buses, school buses, high tech industry specializations and industry areas.

An in-game traffic manager would be great like TMPE. For changing lane arrows and timed traffic lights.

Properly sized zones. The current ones are way too small for anything larger than realistic low density. Corner-buildings. Expanded park manager, just imagine playing roller coaster tycoon inside cities skylines. Integrated railwaystations for large industrial complexes like oil refineryes, so no more truck spam. Propper railyards. Propper metrosystem like done by metro overhaul mod. Car ferries. Built in move it and road anarchy. And finally fixed traffic ai

I want the ability to create an actual region. For now, I have 6 sperate cities. Why not put them all together in one region and actually let them work together?(trade goods, have commuters from your other towns, trade water/electrictiy/garbage/etc.)
I also would like to have more proper building themes with more different buildings from different ages(the vanilla only contains "European" and "International"). I also miss the wealth classes like you have in SC4. And maybe the ability to expand facilities, like you could in Simcity 2013(extra classroom for your school, extra prisons for your police station, extra fire trucks for your fire houses, etc.). One of the few additions which were actually very handy and useful from that game.
And last but not least: air pollution!!!

Stop right there. How do you know this?
Show me any kind of proof that a sequel is planned for or is being committed to.
There has been no word about this from either the developers or the publisher.
None.
So, perhaps you should change the topic title from CS 2 Wishlist to a Wish for a CS2.
And by the way, wishing for things do not make them happen. Stop wishing and do something about it.

Elevated road on the road, that's all I want.

I know there's the mod to do that but it would be great if they just add their own version. ._.

using the 81 tiles you can pretty much make an entire region, 81 tiles is more than enough build space. You just have to be creative and use highways, mountains and industry to spread out the different cites. I pretty much do this every time i build.

I don't remember where I saw it, but CO said they planned on doing DLC support for the game until 2020. Given that the game has been pretty damn popular, it's highly likely they will make a sequel. Sure, they haven't confirmed anything, but it's reasonable to assume that if development starts around when they stop making C:S DLC that C:S2 would release within the latter half of the next decade.

Also, I know that the devs aren't beholden to me just by virtue of me posting here. I would hope that the devs are reading these forums though and might be willing to think about adding some of the community's ideas. Also, I just like discussing game design. Sue me.

I'm not going to edit the topic just because you decide to throw a fit.

It seems unlikely that they are going to stop giving out DLC's for Skylines. I mean, the game is a huge success. And if you look at CKII and EUIV, two games from -12 and -13, they aren't exactly abandoned. Every 6th month, a new DLC is added. And it will continue like that even when Imperator Rome is out. There is some speculation about CKIII and even EUV. But first, there has to be a ViCIII released before the next installments of EU, CK and HoI.

So my guess is that Cities Skylines 2 is far away in the future. We might most likely see CiM3 released. And I don't know whats going to happen with Prison Architect. We might see a few Architect games released before Skylines 2 is announced. Who knows.

And to be honest, this game is only 4 years old. We don't need a new Skylines yet. New mods and assets are released every day to make the game newer, younger and better. The newest edition was animated assets. Ain't that cool?

You're making an assumption then and based on no fact at all. Thank you.
However, given that Karoliina Korppoo, the lead designer of the game, left CO a year ago, it is just as likely that this iteration of Cities: Skylines is the only one CO will make. But, I'm making no assumptions and I don't wish to idly speculate.

Nobody is beholden to you but yourself.
The devs rarely read or post to these forums. If you want to address any suggestions that they may be likely to read, then their own forum would be more appropriate,

Sue you? Whatever for? You're more than welcome to indulge in flights of fancy if you wish.

Then don't... shrugs. The only fit I would throw would be a laughing bit. Unfortunately, this is just too sad to be funny.

This can be a wishlist for future DLC or a CS2.

I like a lot of the ideas already posted. I'll parrot some of those with mine.

- parking lots can be custom made in the asset editor, but I agree, it would be nice to have 1 or 2 be default. It took me forever to learn I could make my own. Garage car parks should be included though, since those are not easy to make.

- definitely like the idea of making custom campuses like Park Life. Here's my town's college. The whole center block between the two 6-lane roads is the best I could do to build an extended campus. There's the main lecture building, a commons area surrounded by dorms, a rink for the curling club, a small health center, a plaza, and some accessory lecture hall buildings. You can easily make a pretty decent looking running track with (I think) the Zoo path, so in a not so snowy map I add those to colleges and high schools. There's nothing to add to the center of them unfortunately, which is why I like your idea of more custom props to plop around. I didn't have room here, but also throw in a gym, tennis and basketball courts.

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1679471458

- more props in general. There should be 50x more props to place in parks and make park assets with. I don't know why the park editor gives us weird things like mailboxes and doghouses but not stuff like gym equipment, restrooms, drinking fountains, etc. I love messing around with all the props. Along with the trees we have there are the grass/fern options, but none for wildflowers. There should be wildflower ploppables in many colors.

- public libraries. It's about the only city service I can think of now that we don't have, so hopefully soon.

- medium density zones for absolute certain. Would also be nice as stated to have wealth factor into it, so high value areas have nicer homes than slums. Also lowest value can be trailer parks, those are strangely missing here. Also can factor in unemployment, and if it is too high homelessness becomes a problem, so you can build homeless shelters around town.

- school buses. You put a school down and there is no noticeable traffic near it. You should be able to map out a school bus route like normal, evac, and sightseeing buses. Better routes have better attendance and graduation rates.

- would definitely love to see more farm options. You can make a farm, but not a ranch. I want to see horses and rodeos, maybe as a unique building.

- like Park Life, being able to make expansive custom golf courses.

- I like the idea of SC4 type farms with the massive swaths of fields that go out acres and acres.

- way more road types, like avenues with a center turn lane instead of a median, and highways with zoning enabled

The metro like Cities XXL, the lines are flexible and the station can with different layer.
The buildings like Simcity 2013, the house can divide and combine.
