game crashes and i investigated some things

ok so i saw this topic a while ago with somebody else and i think i m having the same problem now because he had the same problem with the same version of the game... the deluxe pack

Little backstory: i came across the youtube channels of famous CS builders a while back and i got interested in the way they build their cities... hyper detailed and stuff... so i got to binchwatch several of their channels and start to learn how to do it. listened to all the mods they use and started to investigate how they work in a map of my own and i messed that one up so bad trying all kinds of stuff that i thought ok let's start from scratch and build a new city like those guys... and like i thought... game is crashing all the time can't even open a new map (vanilla or WS)

then i started to backtrack all the problems and ok i had to delete some broken assets (not many) tried again and no luck... then i disabled all assets... still same result. then all the mods... succes i got to open a map without crashing... so ok we got our answer its a mod...

but wait here comes the kicker (or a few of them) ...

now i start to investigate which mod is causing the problem... turns out ... one of them is the loading screen mod (the one meant to stablize the startup.....) as i dig deeper turns out the mod is trying to sent a report to a file that doesnt exist on my pc... well yes cities skylines is nowhere to be found on my pc .... hhhmmmmm strange i thought i downloaded the damn thing when i bought it ???
is this even normal.... ???

so all the mods that are trying to sent a file to the save game do that to the same adresse as the loading mod... which doesnt exist wich causes the crash.... i think
some very expierenced help is very much welcome

NOTE: i do want to get started with the mods and the plopping because thats the whole idea of me playing it...

If you can upload your log file just after the crash that will help in working out exactly what is causing it. You will need to use a file hosting or cloud storage site for it.

hi,

like i mentioned there is no trace on my pc of the game. it runs completly over steam. the only thing i have is a shortcut to open the game. nowhere in my software files is there anything reported as being city skylines, collosal or paradox. i wished i could share it for an expert to see but i can't.

If the game runs it is somewhere on your PC.

Depends - might be using streaming service like GeForce Now, or that Steam Link thing.

second attempt.... something with privacy settings
got one part of my crash figured out... there was a windows update that got stuck for some reason. messed up my graphic settings but i got that sorted and it doesnt change my abbility to start up without a crash

Unsubscribe the following assets (I've just posted the workshop ids below; to find the workshop page and unsubscribe go to any asset workshop page in browser and change the long number in URL for one fo the numbers below):

Also, always exit game to desktop between loading cities. If you return to main menu after loading a save, or load a city while in-game, it breaks loads of mods and that's likely what's causing the error. So always exit to desktop before loading another save.

I'd also suggest unsubscring "More Beautification" as it makes the game run slow. Use "Find It! mod instead.

The mod "No More Purple Pollution [Brown Grass]" is game breaking for some users, consider unsubscribing it.

The "Building Anarchy" mod has some serious issues, particularly if you use mods like 81 Tiles. Consider unsubscribing Building Anarchy.

You have two versions of Fine Road Anarchy subscribed; keep one but unsubscribe the other.

Also, completely unsubscribe any mods that you do not use. Don't just disable them (a disabled mod is still loaded in to RAM and can still cause problems).

txs for the help. turns out the first two assets were ghostassets (no longer in my list but apparently still connected somehow. the third one was deleted of the workshop. several mods actualy the same thing so i deleted everything and started anew... back up and building ;-)
