Ticket booth only using one lane?
I'm revisiting this game after a long time away, and decided to try out the toll booth. For some reason the cars are only using 1-2 of the 6-7 lanes. Any idea why? I put it at the road leading into the map and haven't changed any road configurations. There are around four lanes coming in, but the cars all move into the passing lane.

I've had the absolute worst luck with tolls! I always get insane traffic back up because of them! No matter what I try lol

So it's possible they're poorly coded? Because I've left a Lot of room for cars to breeze through this toll, and yet my highway is Very backed up.
Enable the "Automated Tolls" Policy and see if that eases the backups.

I used TMPE lane changer to make them change lanes on all 3 segments before the toll

I just use the small one-way booths because they seem to work much better than the large ones. Having said that, I think the large ones could work if they're placed either right before or right after a spot where your highway network hits an interchange that has traffic coming or going in three different directions, though you may still need TMPE for lane control.

Traffic in this game is bad enough without sticking in a toll booth .. i literally never use them.

One thing that Biffa suggests on every one of his traffic fix videos is the concept of Lane Mathematics. If you bring in a ramp to a 3 lane highway .. create a 4 lane highway for several segments after the ramp to allow traffic to get on the highway then merge.

in the case of a toll booth .. try to match input lines to number of booth lanes.

But if all traffic is going to make a left hand turn 3 nodes after the toll booths, they will all go through the left most booth. It is the 'shortest' route.

You can use TM:PE and enable Advanced AI and set DLS to 50%:

That will allow some vehicles to take into account local traffic and use other lanes at places that traffic backs up.

Increase the speed limit of the toll road, they'll get in and out quicker. It's only 20 by default.

Some versions of Roads United break tollbooths.

I’ve done literally all of this. XD

I did what I could to match the number of lanes, put it near the start of the map, I used the one-way version (but I used large), I used mods to control lane splitting. Trouble is all they do is behave where I change it, and the weird lane splitting moves further and further away, into the other sections of road! All the cars seem to prioritize a single lane, for No reason. I’ve double, triple, and quadruple checked the roads, and there doesn’t seem to be any reason for this weird lane favoritism. Both lanes allow all cars to get to the toll, and there’s no reason to favor one over the other..

Unless you want to mod there isn't a lot that you can do about it.

If you want to mod use TMPE. Disable lane switching in the middle of the toll (yes there is a node in the middle of the toll booth they can lane switch on for some reason), and the segments on the ends. Just use the lane connector tool and make sure they can't switch, or just press Shift+S with the node selected to do it automatically. Increase the speed limit to whatever you want on the toll booth so they move faster because they slow down to 20kph on the toll. Finally enable automated tolls.

This should fix it.
