Should I get After Dark or Parklife?
I like the features of Parklife (making different types of parks) but I only like some features of after dark, like the taxis, international airport and others.

Which dlc should I get?
What will help my city more?

The most relevant features of AD DLC are the commercial specialisations. These will be helpful for your city, but taxis and the Intl airport not so much.
Having said that, of the two, I prefer Parklife now. The revenue that can be made from a well planned park is quite useful to an early vanilla build.
However, you ought to wait until it is more than 6 months old and then pick it up in the sales at 50% discount and at then price you could get both for the price of one ;)

i was disappointed in park life. when you build a park you don't get enough leisure from it what you would by just plopping them down nearby until they level up to 5 stars. also placing the tiles props in them is a pain none of them snap together and you end up with tiles looking like a badly placed jigsaw puzzle.

Parklife was released May 24 2018. Therefore, it isn't quite old enough yet for a 50% discount, so expect less than that.

I don't build the DLC parks for leisure. I build them for the appearance and the money they make. They are a great source of extra cash! They make more and cost less than the new industries from Industries DLC o.O
As for building them, I find it quite easy and it's not difficult at all to build them small and compact if that's what you want.
A large spawling nature reserve...

or very small and compact...

The income from just these three parks is almost 20k and with thse visitor numbers, I'm sure that the city as a whole is getting a huge amount of leisure/entertainment from them ;)

Just use the path tool and then join the assets to the path.
