At the beginning of this clip I show goods from a industrial area being transported by boat across a harbour from a Cargo harbour to a Cargo Hub. Then from there the cargo is put upon a train for a short ride to the commercial area cargo terminal then short truck deliveries to the shops. Though I only show the ship and where it is going to.

Yes, they do. I create an internal cargo network between my industries (DLC) and where the commercial areas are, I have in each a cargo train station or cargo & airport hub and trains are going from one place to the next. It sames can take a couple of minutes before they spawn but if you have the demand, trains will start to plopp.
