Yum :) i'd look at another 16GB of ram in the next few months as well,
Budget is 1000€ and I'm running my slightly modded cities skylines at 3.9 -4.4GB right now, so 16 sounded save^^
Yeah that'll be fine but it'll perform so well you'll be like a child in a candyshop in the workshop lol
I know :D But I had to set a limit because I'm also like a child in a computer shop...
For only 20€ more I'll get X and just a few bucks and I could switch Y for Z...
so a limit was essential and 16GB RAM is essential these days and fits the limits.
I only got 2 Slots so upgrading would mean investing 200-250€ again
Lol..
Yeah it's the best method to put a strict spend budget, you got a good spread over the whole machine with that kit, should see you well wth most pc operations not just gaming.
Uprgrading rams gonna have to take a back seat for awhile, you managed to show restraint before so assets shouldn't be an issue.

Intel i5 9600k
16GB DDR4 RAM 2666
Intel M.2 SSD 256GB
GPU-wise I'll use my old ATI R380 until January (X-mas and presents and stuff hit my purse hard :D )
Then I'm eyeballing a Saphire Radeon RX590 since it would put my overall costs at almost exactly 1000€ (wich is the limit I set to myself)

Edit:

Maybe I'm lucky and the RX VEGA 56 from Saphire drops a few euros until then^^

That should do you well for awhile. It should handle 1080p with any game.

Bro i got like 8gig of ddr3 and a stupid hard drive. my pc handels it just fine.
your pc will be great for Cities Skylines
game works great on my i5 3330 4Core @ 3.0Ghz, 12gb DDR3 800MHz RAM and GTX 1050Ti 4gb GPU. Not sure how but it runs amazing and even with 40k pop and 1200assets and mods. Awaiting my new build to arrive though as it does start to lag at 40k pop if I go over.
So I "accidently" bought a xfx rx590 fatboy... guess my build is complete :D now I'll see how far I can push this game and KSP.
Good buy on that card, but the GPU is not as important as raw CPU power for the Sim and Ram for all the assets.
I know, but I stil needed something better than my old one and it was only 260€
Yep, definitely good value! I would buy one myself, but i wait a bit till i really want to upgrade.

The 970 EVO seems to be the choice most people are making for m.2 nvme

If you buy SSDs, I recommend paying extra for Intel SSDs. They are well optimized for Intel systems. Ignore most SSD benchmarks and claims of high speed. High speeds are useless as your system deals with small files 99.999% of the time. It's a very rare occurance you'll even move a single file over 1GB, let alone 10+ GB files that are tested.

Look more at the smaller tests like 4k and such. Those are the workloads you will be using.

I already returned my Optane drive as it was ridiculously overpriced for the performance. It was a little faster than my Samsung 960 Pro, and my replacement Intel 660P was a tad slower than the 960 Pro, but half the price.

But overall, you can't tell which one is faster without a stopwatch to tell you it is faster. I've switched to Intel as they all have 5-year warranty, and Intel has the best customer service of anyone I've dealt with over the years. I even told them I blew up a $500 CPU and they still replaced it for me for free. Even paid shipped the CPU too, and had me reuse the box with a return label already paid for inside to return the burnt up CPU.

Samsung, on the other hand has the absolute worst customer support ever. In the end, they do pull through if you don't give up on them, most of the time with a FM/BIOS update some months later. But you have to be persistent with them. Their website was useless as well. Had to call and pester them.
Hmmm my experience with Samsung support is a lot different from yours, i broke te plastic lugs on a brand new SSD a few months back and contacted their support, they replied within 24 hours and asked me to take some photos of it and supply the place of purchase and serial number and they replaced it, All i did was send them an email?

I still highly recommend Samsung, i've bought 3 drives from them in the last few months and all of them perform well beyond what i was expecting.

Edit: Samsung Warranty lengths.
