I had real time months ago, then i unsubscribed. I can assure you that cims walk less on the streets now, but as Four Elements said "cims love to walk" anyway
And is there any mod to force cims to drive ?
But I don't want a functionnal city but a realistic city. And in the realistic city there is traffic jam ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Yeah I hate how many sims are walking in areas you would see nobody walking in real life. Like next to coal power plants, etc. I would rather there by traffic problems I need to fix than everyone just walking. (I'm weird too lol)
Since industry and services need vehicles the most, then I imagine as you near your vehicle limit, your cims will be forced to walk
But I always force my cims to walk, by keeping them within 12-blocks (1km) of their destination, as they will prefer to walk. If they need to travel more than 1km, then they will spawn a vehicle and cause more vehicle traffic.
The best around this, is to build in balance. Get cims that need to drive into vehicles, and cims who want to walk near their destinations so they aren't tempted to drive.
For best results, avoid mods to force vehicles and citizens around. They game's AI is already designed for the game. It doesn't need altering, you just need to figure out what your cims want and give it to them.
When planning a route, the cims assume that they will be able to go the speed limit at all times. The cims generally pick the quickest route, though I believe that there is some randomness when routes are similar enough. The speed limit on the side walks is 25kph, if I recall correctly, and on the pedestrian paths it is 40kph. No pedestrian can actually walk that fast, but it makes even a pedestrian path that is longer than the roads look more attractive to the cims.
I presume that you could also write a mod that uses the real pedestrian speeds (which appear to be at least partly based on age category) during pathfinding instead of the speed limit, but that would be quite a lot of work even for that small change.
