Unless the trees are grown using petrol to feed them, the only way there should be so much fire is if the reserve is getting constantly napalmed or nuked.
As for water, you can just make out in the screenshot that there's a river directly below the reserve so that's not a problem.
Basically, something is wrong with the fire's spread rate and needs to be fixed.
I ended up with 4 and that seemed to be able to keep it under control somewhat.
I still wasn't satisfied, so I start some major pruning... I created natural fire breaks by clearing the ground on either side of the pathways 3 cells deep on both sides. I still had plenty of trees but now they were more or less in large parcels of forestland. This helped to prevent fire spreading and if and when a fire broke out, the choppers could easily handle the more localised disaster. So much so, I reduced the 4 stations and stuck with 2 instead.
As mentioned above, I've already got that mod. Doesn't do a thing.
I’ve noticed that forestry industry areas also seem to attract forest fires. My city has something like 15 (not exaggerating) firefighting helicopter depots and they still spread faster than the firefighting helicopters can get there.
Likely a mod somewhere. Try temporarily launching the game with no workshop and see if it still continues.
Nope. Happens when running vanilla.
The only mod I've got installed at the moment is the non-functioning Tree Fire Control one and that was after the problem stated. Maybe starting a new game will 'activate' it but I honestly cannot be ars*d starting from scratch yet again.
Do you have the Natural Disasters DLC?
A bit more Googling and reading through a lot of posts, it's looks like this DLC is to blame (at least partially). According to what I've read, the nature reserve infernos (as well as the other 2 or 3 types parks you can create), are caused the DLC allowing the props in these parks to catch fire. Without the DLC, nothing within the park(s) will burn except for the gate/entrances which fire trucks can get to.
This could also be what's causing the constant super infernos that are sweeping through, seemingly, many other player's cities like yours. It looks like the only option for now would be to disable the DLC or have your city continually burn like it's the End of Days.
I would test it myself but I've already deleted all game saves and can't be bothered starting it again. I've no intention of wasting days or weeks building another city only to have the game crap all over it again.
In answer to your recent question, yeah, the TFC mod was turned on.
Did you even bother to read any of the posts?
I've already mentioned that -
A) The problem was occurring in the VANILLA game.
B) The only mod I installed was the Tree Fire Control AFTER the problem started.
C) The NATURAL DISASTERS DLC looks like it may be causing the problem
Yet you're 'pretty sure disasters are a mod'? Maybe next time you should read what the post is about before chiming in with your opinion.
