Road Hierarchy
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=522776740
Just for clarification, my questions are gonna be based off of this guide to road hierarchy.

So I've read this guide all the way through a couple times now, and have started a few different cities using this method of road layout, but I'm still not satisfied with my cities. Traffic is better, but I'm not a fan of how it looks. It's kinda boring to look at in my opinion. Is there a guide that shows how to make roads that are functional and nice to look at without using mods?

Why are you scared of using mods?

Mods for this game have always been iffy for me. I'm okay with using some, but the game starts too feel cluttered and unorganized if I download too many. Half of the maps and assets on the workshop require multiple mods just to work correctly, which is why I don't download hardly any. I used to download a lot, and before I knew it, I had an asset list that would've taken hours to scroll through. It was seriously slowing down my game, so I wiped it all from my game and just re-downloaded my favorites.

Yeah, that's too much for me. I think I'm just gonna do what I can with what I have.

What mod are you talking about that will help set up road hierarchy? I don't know of any. Nothing in that guide require the use of mods.
Road heirarchy is just a matter of using the right road in the right place and zoning appropriately.

Yes, there are mods and assets that can make it look beautiful in your eyes, but no one else sees through your eyes. You may not get far without your mods and assets, but I do just fine without all that extra drag on RAM and performance.

My bad, I didn't explain myself quite right. I wasn't talking about any specific mod when I referenced that guide. What I was saying that I didn't like the way it looked, and was wondering if there was another sytem of road hierarchy that might make the roads more entertaining to look at. But thinking about it now, I think I just need to keep using this method and adding my own twists until I find something that suits me.

Sam Burr, a city planner, on YouTube has some decent videos. He may have some ideas to help you out.
