Road acceleration and deceleration lanes.

There seems to be a long term desire to have realistion highway on and off ramps.

We fiddle about with techniques to get roads with different lane numbers to 'align' to create such lanes. Then add and fiddle about with a mass of decals (aka Bike Middle et al).

Am I being obtuse or is it 'simply' a matter of, instead of aligning nodes on their central axis, have an option to align left or right.
