Stop importing and Exporting?
Is it posible to stop Importing and Exporting my goods? I want to store all the things i havest and create!
When i put down a storage building (raw materials) and chose "fill" then it starts to import, before i even make my own goods.....

Not yet. I hope there's a feature or at least mod soon. I hate that my extractors keep exporting instead of supplying.

Yee i agree!

If you have storage set to balance they will only export when you are making more than you can use. If you don't have storage you'll get exports when the producer gets full and must send a truck but none of the refinery buildings are ready to take a load. Happens a lot, its why we can't completely eliminate imports in the base game.

Basically, use storage.

Do have any mod for this? I want to stop imports.

If you want to stop importing and exporting, then you need to keep things in balance. Even then, it will still import and export from varying demands. i.e. your oil pump sends crude oil to petroleum plant and the petroleum plant won't need any more crude oil for a while, so the excess crude oil being harvested gets exported until someone requests crude oil.

Build as many pumps as petroleum plants consume, and you will cut down exports.

Same in reverse for importing, if you have more petroleum plants than oil pumps, then it should import more crude oil for petroleum plants.

But in the end, you'll always have a small amount of imports/exports while lots/few requests get demanded at one time and it will need to import/export every so often.

lol this is the exact issue I've been struggling with for 2 weeks. I'd be in heaven if you could just issue a policy banning import/exports. As far as I can see the only way is to make your areas completely isolated so no trucks can get in or out, or at least make a 1 way road so they can only come in OR out. It's not a realistic or long term solution though, especially in bigger cities.

As far as balance, it's very trial and error I've found. The numbers are hard to figure and it's not a 1:1 ratio, eg, one oil pump to one petroleum plant. I watched some videos where the guy had 2 extractors to 1 processor plant. I've had some success with that but it still doesn't guarantee you won't get imports/exports and have to pay for them. Then it gets more complicated when you introduce bigger and more varied processor types.

I really wish there was a mod that does exactly what OP says

You can't stop the wheels of progress.

But if you don't want so much freight in your city, then stop creating it. lol

There's really nothing you can do. A business doesn't stop operating. It keeps buy and selling. Or importing, exporting, and local use in our cases.

Since you get paid for exporting, you don't want importing or you pay for it. To prevent importing, then keep supply up. If supply drops, then it will start demanding imports.

FYI, I have zero imports. But I need excessive exports to prevent it.

This is bugged. I have storage buildings using all their trucks exporting raw materials and my manufacturors are idle because they lack that very raw material... They are literally neighbours and could easily do the delivery in five seconds. So my manufacturors are importing the same raw material, causing the unnecessary traffic to double...

^ This exactly. I really want a mod/feature to stop the storage from importing/exporting. I want them to supply the local supply chain instead of using all their trucks to fill/empty their bellies.
This looks like broken to me... If someone has found a solution, please share.

U can stop them from exporting by cut down the way out of ur Comercial and industrial areas. Use Freighttrains instead to connect those togehter and it should be much better when the only have the opportunity to unload on ur cargohub.. just get sure u dont connect to an export line just use a seperate track or single...
that should solve ur problems a little bit. or i just turned out all of my warehouses that are doubled... i just use one storage per produced things...and it goes much smother and lesser demands ond guds..hope my nglisch isnt to bad so u understand what i mean

I also wished to come here and complain about the game being realistic.
I further wish to complain that I dont want to properly design my city for the desired effects.
Instead- please alleviate me having to play the game so I can cheat and get my way without having to work for it.
THanks in advance- millenials

I have made the same comment on similar threads. In real life, factory production comes to a halt because the buyer found the raw materials cheaper overseas, but bad weather prevents shipment. For me, part of the fun was discovering that my raw materials were coming from another area of my map, rather than the stores next door. Then having to create an express route for the material delivery - e.g. goods trains or an underground highway.

If you want to stay vanilla, accept the limitations and the challenge is to find a solution.
