InterCity trains disallowed, keep spawning anyway.
Hi, I'm a bit confused. My city started drowning in a map-wide train jam, made up almost entirely of intercity trains. Hundreds of them easily. I then checked their destinations, and a lot of them were going to stations that are off limits to them, e.g. stations where InterCity trains are banned.

I've really run out of clues as to what might cause this. Are there any mods known to cause issues of that kind?

check the map entry and exit points. sometimes they jam up on teh switch... has a habit of popping up on sometimes. the reason why it looks liek you are being inundated is because they cant leave. as for why they are going to stations that are banned . are they through stations? jsut like cars and trucks. ships planes and trains will pass through your city going to other cities.

Edit - TLDR - they may not have passengers for you, but cannot leave either due to a bug that can occur on the exit/entrance nodes.

Make sure you have bypasses. And try make good intersections. Each train intersection should ideally be like a road highway intersection where none of the directional traffic is crossing over eachother. In this game ive seen this cause sudden clogging. Ive had a few clogs before and what I needed to do was fix intersections then delete a few trains afterwards to restart the flow. I takes a while before the whole system unwinds. Follow each direction and see which direction is locked.
