Windows 10, Xbox Cities Skyline DLC, Mods questions
I received the cities skyline game on my xbox. Can I use the steam DLCs' or mods with my windows xbox version of this game?

I see there are more DLCs' on steam than on the windows, xbox version of the game and think this is due to the limitation of the xbox version of the game.

Looking to see of I can run it on steam and take advantage of all steam has to offer. I know I can add it to steam by way of a bat file but that is just to launce it from steam and does no alot me the use of the steam workshops...

Any help or direction would be greatly apreciated.

No to your first question.

Yes there are more DLC's mods and assets for steam version, Windows 10 version is basically the same as the Xbox version, i don't think it's a limitation issue, the games been on on pc since 2015, I would expect to see more DLC's for both those other versions in the future.

Don't think hacking it into steam will work but it may be worth a try, i would recommend to buy the pc version than all that messing about.

I'm not sure whether they would conflict as their installed into different locations but i would remove the Win 10 version just in case they do share registry entries etc.

No Microsoft will never use Steam. It uses its own in-house stuff.

The Xbox version of the game was ported by a different developer.

And yes, MS has locked down the game. They don't want anyone hacking the Xbox machine. i.e. mods are essentially hacks.

No, it is a completely different beast. There is no way to add mods as MS hides all of their games for Xbox (win 10 ed.) files and they are encrypted to prevent any hacking.

The game is locked down for security reasons. They don't want a lot of complaint that their games don't work because of a mod. Look that these forums for this game. well over 90% of the posts are all mod related.

There is no way to conflict the two games, they are made by two different companies and use completely different methodologies.

I own them both and I can play them both at the same time on the same machine without issues.

Yes I just did and it was not easy as it is not in the uninstall section and I had to uninstall it from the start icon. I did have it lauching from steam by way of a bat file but that was just a lauch.
Apreciate your responce and knowledge; I am off to purchase the steam version... THKS!

Why did you buy both ? And playing both of them at the same time would give me a headache :)

To play them both at the same time. lol

My huge 25-tile cities are slow and I can play on the other one while they mature. Then I don't have to wait and twiddle my proverbial thumbs. lol

Before the the win 10 edition, I had to buy two versions of the game (and two computers) as Steam won't let you run two versions of the same game on one computer.

Now I don't need my other computer. well, at least not for this game.

Why not get the ps4 and Xbox versions as well, you'll have the complete set then :D

I'm getting dizzy just thinking of running two versions, after playing just my one version when i go to bed i'm still thinking of city planning until about 4am, running two versions and i'd be off to see a therapist for insomnia :D
