Not Enough Customers
All of my commercial buildings are saying they dont have customers when i have 35,000 pop, free public transport, they're surrounded by residential and have road access, this only started recently and i've been only building roads this session. Why is this and how do i fix it?

I don’t normally pay attention to the demand meter but what is it showing for residential demand? What kind of residential (low or high density) do you have zoned and what kind of commercial (low or high) do you have zoned? High density residential and low density commercial will create too many customers causing your commercial demand to go up while low density residential and high density commercial will eventually lead to not enough customers after a few leveling up cycles.

You've probably zoned too much commercial. Pay no attention to the demand bars. I keep commercial and industrial at around the halfway point. Keep your eye on unemployment. Try to keep it around 10%. When unemployment goes lower than that zone residential whether or not there is demand. Do the opposite when unemployment is low. My guess is it's very low which means that the stores have too few customers.

As a general rule don't zone too much commercial. It's not necessary and it generates a lot of traffic. Same is true of generic industry. Once you get offices, satisfy high unempolyment with them. Offices generate almost no traffic.

You might have over zoned your commercial areas, it's easily done.

Upload your save to the workshop and share the link in here and someone will look into it further for you.

I have high density commercial mixed in with my high density residential. I should mention that it is only my high density commericial that is having problems. For some reason (And i never really do look at demand) i have had max industrial demand and half commericial. I'ved played this game a decent amount and i have never had this problem. Thanks for getting back.

I have to agree with CyberVibes that it sounds like over zoning but if that was the case your demand should (and this is why I hardly pay attention to the demand) read zero for commercial. A screen shot of the area or maybe a savegame would help us narrow it down.

I would say that's to much, you really don't need much at all, the fact that you have high density zones that haven't filled all the area that you've zoned in should be a give away imo, you may have demand for more commercial but you might just need to replace some of the high density will low density to get some balance, i can't see from that screenshot whether you have zoned in low density but i would either zone in some low density or demolish some of the high density commercial.

My advice is look at the age distribution. Look at how many young adults you have compared to adults and seniors. High Density commercial attracts young adults, while adults and seniors shop more at low density commercial zones. Don't zone too much High Density commercial all at once.
Its probably because you have NO Demand for commercial. Dont zone too much of commercial out. Otherwise No customers will come! Thats how it can lead to NO Customers at all. Be AWARE This can go to Urgent/Red No customers and than Abandoned. I would recommend only the commercial zones that show Not enough customers to REZONE To Resedential. Try to KEEP THEN Equal demand! And that will help your city BECOME Better and GROW! :)
