How do you customize zone block size?

I saw on a video that someone was picking blocks to turn into zones. How do i add them in smaller numbers? I can't figure out how to pick the blocks, or un pick ones i want. Right now i've been hovering over an area and when the zone i want is the only one left i can uncheck it, but there has to be an easier way.

I'm not sure I understand what you are asking. You need to click on the zoning icon or press Z and the zoning menu will come up. In that menu you can select, in the early game, low density residential (bright green), low density commercial (bright blue), or generic industry (yellow). Click on which one you wish to zone and use one of the four tools to zone an area.

If this does not answer your question, I apologize.

Yea i get that part, But i was watching some guy's vid tutorial and he was able to pick single blocks at a time to make the zone exactly the size he wanted.

So instead of clicking an entire block he could select one building size. It was not sections that were small either.. some of the grids were easy 10x100, and he would just select 10x10 for example.

Once you are in the zoning menu of your choice, on the left just over the menu bar are a few extra buttons. The default is FILL, and that is what you are doing when zoning areas. Change that to square and now you will need to select each area, no fill.

You may point and click to an individual zone cell or use the marquee tool to drag out a box of however large you wish or in any direction you wish. That way you can quickly mark out any shape or size of zones.

TY, that is what i was missing.. I knew there had to be a option or button to hit.. Do you know off hand if it has a hotkey to toggle?

Not sure, I don't use hotkeys for much, maybe screenshots and that's it. But you can check the hotkey menu in the Options while the game is running. You might be able to assign one.

No, unfortunately there is no hot key for the different zoning tools, but once you select a tool it doesn't change for that session.
