City Skylines: Park Life - how do I put out fires in the new custom parks?
I created a new city, and built a Theme park. Then a fire started in the park it ended up burning down every building in the park. My firefighters never came to put out the fires... I purchased all new buildings and later on another fire started... again it burned the entire park down... this problem is really ruining a lot of enjoyment the new content has to offer. Does anyone know how do I get my firefighers to enter my park and put out the fires?

If there already is a forum for this I couldn't find it and if possible can you link it in the discussion.

Thanks!

Fire helicopters help. Without mods you can’t really prevent the fires. Fire services prevents spreading, but if you build disaster recovery then you won’t have to redo anything as burned down park stuff can be rebuild.

I thought about that, but it seems pretty crazy that the devs didn't build any mechanics for the fire fighters to enter the custom parks. Just wondering, are you familiar with the nessesary mods to get them to put out the fires inside the park?

Well, there is this mod that makes fires more controllable

Until the devs fix this (If they ever do...) I'll Try it out!

Thanks!

That linked mod seemed to not work for me, reported on the mods page.

Regardless of its settings tree areas of beautification or forested areas for industry would still often catch fire and burn down.

Fire control helicopters are limited in their ability to put out those types of fires as well.

Hopefully they will address this now due to Park Life as it has been an issue for some time for me.

Just chiming in to say that, yes, I've had this same issue. Because I have a lot of forest industry, I actually had about 5 Fire Helicopter Depots already placed, but even they couldn't save my park. By the time the squadron of 15 arrived, half the park was in flames and even though they could replenish water nearby, because it takes an entire bucket to douse a tree, let alone a building, I lost most of the park.

In general, Fire Helicopters should deal much more "damage" to fires. That's been a quirk ever since they were introduced.

But aside from that, this seems incredibly silly, especially if a player doesn't have access to Fire Helicopters from the Natural Disasters DLC. If they can't get the fire trucks to roll into the park grounds, then the entrance of the park should represent the whole park.

I wish I knew how to mod properly. A "maintenance" building for parks that covered police, fire, trash, etc, would be ideal.

As it stands right now, there is no way to put out a fire within the park system other than the helicopter. I've been reading over on the Paradox forums that if you uninstall the Natural Disasters DLC that fires won't happen in the park. Apparently, the game is treating the parks like the forest for forest fires which is a "feature" of the ND DLC. I don't have the Parklife DLC to test for sure, though.

The fire helicopters only put out the trees that are on fire in the park. They do not put out the building fires in the parks. This is a massive failure for the developers.

Furthers my recent recommendations to just uninstall ND DLC until the conflict issues with it and the Parklife update have been resolved.

One option is this: You can run roads through your parks. designate the area as park, build roads as normal, put the various park-items within the zoneable area (I believe they'll snap to the roads just as easily as they do the path). The firemen can now reach them with the hoses from the engines on the roads. The downside to this method is that, well, it looks a bit silly, because you don't have the fences around the outside, and the cims use the entrance because it's expected, rather than because they have to.

Not as aesthetically appealing, but I believe it works?

This is actually a really good idea. You can use Traffic Manager:PE to make the roads available to service vehicles only (I don't know if that will effect visitor/pedestrian traffic), and you can probably find some road texture assets to make it fit more in with the theme of your park.

Not true. I just a a helicopter put out a building (bird house) fire.

And you also can set districts to prioritize helicopter response, so you can set the district your park is in for that to help.

Hi,

V quick question. From reading this it looks like you only get this issue if you have ND *and* Parklife installed?

I don't have ND but was thinking of getting Parklife and would be somewhat hacked off if my park then burnt down with all the firefighters standing around the edge toasting marsh mallows.
