I cannot get ferries to work

I am really frustrated because I cannot get ferries to work. Yes, I have checked out a few other discussions here about the problem, but after trying the things that others have posted, I still can't get ferries to spawn in my city.

I tried the "press SHIFT while connecting the lines" thing and that did nothing. As a matter of fact, I couldn't tell any difference in anything when pressing SHIFT.

I tried making sure that my ferry stops were in a loop.

I also tried to make sure that my depot was connected to shipping lanes. No matter what I do, I cannot get any ferries in service.

I also tried verifying my game file integrity.

Please help.

You need to add ferry stops! You just created a route. Now you need a line. Click in the center of the round circles and you should be golden. Make sure you select the ferry stops at the far right, first.

They don't need to be in a circle if you do't want them to.

the depot doesn't need to be connected to the outside shipping lanes. ferries and outside shipping connections are completely separate. if you setup a ferry route in each of those lakes you will need a depot in each (unless you connect the lakes together)

as already said, you have created the path now you need to create the line. think about the route that you have created as a road network, the ferries work the same way as the buses. the yellow line are the roads and the ferries stops are the bus stops. click on the bus stop icon and set up the line as you would a bus line.

Oh my goodness! Thank you all for the responses. Even with what you said it took me awhile to figure it out. They really could have made it more intutitive. So frustrating. But I finally got it. Thanks again!
