Blending Textures in GIMP
Hello everyone, I hope you're having a good day.
I have been puzzled as to how to blend textures in GIMP. I've been following hadecee's guide on Themes but he used Photoshop. I am pretty new to image editing software, so I knew it wouldn't be too easy. I have also been looking at several GIMP tutorials and they have helped some, but they didn't really cover of what I'm trying to accomplish.
If anybody on here has made their custom textures or just knows how, please help a brother out.

It would be helpful if you explained what it is that you're trying to accomplish ;)
I'm familiar with Gimp, but I prefer Photoshop to create and prepare my custom textures for use in game. The texture creation is fairly straightforward in either app.
However, implementing a texture in game will involve adjusting the gamma properties of the texture and I'm not sure how well Gimp can do that.
This is because the game's lighting will cause the natural gamma level to glare very bright and so you need to adjust it until it's acceptable. This is more of a trial by error process and you may need to switch back and forth between the image editing app and the game until you're satisfied.

For asset / map / texture creation, there are some dedicated communities where creators hang out:

I am trying to get those really nice sharp cliff textures like in SCTHomecoming, Ronyx69's themes, and themes by Fluxtrance. I could easily download them, but I have my own textures that I'd like to work on. And I've been wanting to get into image editing software anyhow, so this is also a good inlet to display my creative side.
