Game crashes during loading or short time after load completes
Started playing last night with the new campus expansion and when I try to load my last nights save it keeps crashing. Most of the time it crashes during loading, but sometimes after I play a couple of minutes. My screens also reset when the crash happens.

Error Log and the save used are available here:

No mods are in use.

Same problem with me except the game freezes in the loading screen. The music plays and so does the bird move. Click on this to see an screenshot for where the game freezes

Your paging file is full which causes the crash. Either increase the size of it or unsubscribe from workshop assets you don't need.

RetroCode: No, you don't have the same problem.

Retro try using the loading screen mod if that doesn't fix your issue then create a new thread of your own so we can help you.

I don't think so it's the paging file problem. I have 45 mods excluding about 25 assets. I have a computer with 16GB ram. It just started happening after an update(2.3mb). It's something else. i also tried removing 5 assets but nothing.

I subscribed to this mod. I went into the content manager where I found all my mods to be turned off (maybe because of the update). i started the game and it took some time to load into my map but when it did, only errors showed up which could not be clicked out of.

Thank you. I closed and opened the game again and it worked.

When the loading screen mod loaded your game it would have created a report, if you look in the LSM settings you'll see the destination folder for the reports, if this isn't activated then click the button to activate next to the destination folder url, then close down steam, relaunch steam and the game then load your save, after that the report will be available, make sure you don't have any broken assets in the report.

A simple restart of steam might help as well, if the game isn't closed down properly it can unactivate all your mods, normally reactivating and restarting steam fixes this issue.

I have 32 gb of ram so the game should never page. It does however leak memory like a boss, after loading the save it has taken 13 gb of my ram and it keeps slowly increasing even if I do nothing ingame. Mind you my town only has 6660 people in it so it will run out of memory eventually.

I did try starting the game with workshop disabled and so far the game has not crashed. So thanks for the suggestion.

So is this new to the update? My game was working fine and has been crashing ever since I loaded Campus.

I have put hours into my city with lots of mods so I can’t face just giving it up

Any solutions?

the game needs a pagefile to run, if you do not have a pagefile then the game will crash. to stop the crashing turn your pagefile back on.

start your own thread and include your error.log and your output log file.

97% memory in use.
16320 MB physical memory [371 MB free].
49088 MB paging file [8779 MB free].

you are subscribed to way too many assets. 16GB of RAM is enough for around a 1000 assets. remove the ones you do not need or use or buy more RAM.

i see in your other thread you are blaming Paradox for the crashes, even though the crashes are entirely your fault for subscribing to much custom content.

Same problem here. With the campus addon the game crashes while loading. I uninstalled all mods/assets...problem is still there.
