Can't Build Farm Buildings
I'm having trouble building the maintenance buildings and the barracks for the farms and logging industry. I can build their main buildings, but each time I try to build the support ones I get messages saying they need to be build on a road (which I can fix) and they're not in an industrial area.

I have tried building them in an industrial-zoned area with no luck. I have also tried de-zoning the areas, placing them in commercial or residential areas, placing them in different sized industrial areas, de-zoning and then re-zoning industrial areas, and building side streets with industrial zones along them and then placing the support building along those streets but connected to the main road. Each and every time I get the same message.

Is there a trick to placing them, or am I simply doing it wrong?

That’s because your main building is in a different area. The circle around the main building means it’s in a different area. You need to have all building in the same area as the main building. You have to expand the main building area.

Are you painting a industrial zone or a normal zone?

Okay I figured out that I have to make a district and then label that district as farming or logging. Now though I've done that for both spots, but when I go to build the support buildings it says there's no main building in the area even though I have the main buildings in the right districts.

I tried removing the original main buildings and replaced them after making the districts but I still get the new message.

Here's a few screenshots to show what I mean. This first one shows my two districts. The logging district is upper left, the farming is on the bottom. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1740486732

This one shows that currently I have removed the original industrial zoning in those districts. I get the error message either with or without the zoning in place.

And in this one I'm trying to build the support building next to the main building but it says there's no main building in the area.

Every main building you plop automatically contains an industry area in itself, which you can just expand by painting with the industry area tool. You're obviously not aware that's a thing, which is why you have half a dozen small and empty areas there after placing and deleting main buildings.

Remove everything except Coleridge Ranch, expand it and try again :)

Yes, the main building starts a zone. Don't start a zone before placing the main building. Place the main building, then expand its zone to include the rest of the industries.

Okay, I didn't realize that you had to be perfect when targeting that zone. They should make that starting area a little larger.

That´s weird. I also had troubles starting an industry, but thats because i painted a normal district instead of an industrial area. After i figured it out (actually someone here told me how to) i painted an industrial area, then placed the main building inside. The type of building defined what kind of industry it will be. Did it like that every time. Worked well.
