My city got deleted as I tried to save it.
Yeah, I was working on this city for a long time now and I've saved it multiple times so I don't lose my progress. Well, I went to save it again and instantly get an error message that the city couldn't be saved, I try again, this time the error saying that I don't have enough disk space. I try third time (because I wan't sure if it actually meant it, my PC is kind of funky from time to time) and this third time I notice even before saving that my original save file is gone from the save list, I try making a new save only for the game to crash, before I could free any space.

TL;DR: I clicked save and instead my save file disappeared.

I play vanilla (no mods or assets). And could not find this save file on my computer either.
Are there any backups I could try finding before I have to start my city from scratch?

If when saving, you were overwriting a previous save rather than renaming each one, then I'm sorry but it is likely gone for good.
Still, just check to make sure... your saves should be stored on your hard drive at
X:\Users\your name\AppData\Local\Colossal Order\Cities_Skylines\Saves
'AppData' is a hidden folder by default on Windows, but you can make it visible by using Folder Options.
Good luck ;)
My city just disappeared in me to. A shame, I don't play this game much and it was the furthest I've ever gotten. Eh, this is a good as time as any to get the DLC on a third-party store.

Thanks, I indeed was overwriting the old save when it disappeared. That was the folder I originally searched only finding my test city save in there. I guess I have to start over.

So it's not just me. I had just had hit the 55k milestone too. I haven't seen many reviews about the DLC's but I'm not buying them unless I get the main game work properly.

When saving, always pause the game and check out the Load Game menu to double-check if the city was successfully saved or not, before you exit to desktop. Ever since I started doing this trick I didn't experience any savefile loss anymore.

I did notice the savefile gone, before the game crashed, but as I said. The game crashed and I couldn't do anything to save it at that point. Thanks for the advice anyway.
