Loosing Water in lake
Hello guys, I finally created a nice small lake for my park.

After the creation and the small flood ;) in filling it. it looks great.

However, after playing the game for a while and going back to the park the lake water has disappeared.

How can I fix this?

When you place the water thing (i don't know exactly what its called) did you leave it in the lake? I think if you remove it, then eventually the water dries up? You can set the level of the water while that thing is in the lake and after a bit it should settle and stay at that level. At least thats how it works in the editor.

ok, I think I understand what you mean. That could be my mistake. Let me check on it and get back to you.

Bean towns right. Water pumps drain water from rivers and lakes. When you can, put some water treatment plants in a pond nearby to cleanse all the water from the lake.

Yup, you got it.
If you are not using a water spawner ( I only know of one) then you will need to have a creek or river feed the lake from a reliable source. All standing water will evaporate after time.
The water spawner can be found here.

If you use the water placement tool in extra landscaping then you need to have two water cylinders, one thats set to the level that you want the water at and the other an empty cylinder thats used to drain it, so one continually fills the other continually drains to keep the levels right

no, I just set the height of the water from/on the one cylinder I place in the hole.

Maybe i'm still using an old technique that i picked up a while ago, if your having success with that technique then it's obvious it works, i'll try to test this myself later, thanks for the heads up :)

At that I never knew there was a drain cylinder, but will look for them now.

I'm sure i picked it up from watching Bonbonb while he was analysing water sources in a map on Whatmap series, the ocean had a number of full cylinders and also had about the same amount of empty cylinders, i'll see if i can track down the vid later too.

Love this community, thanks I would like to see that if possible. I could see doing that for quick moving volumes of water.

There's no need for 2 of them, they will either spawn or despawn water as needed.

That's what I thought.

Yup ditto.
The water spawner doesn't just produce water. Whatever level you set it it to, it maintains the water at that level. Therefore, it acts as a source of water and a drain at the same time, so you do not need two to perform either function, especially for a small pond/lake.
The amount of water it produces and drains can be adjusted by the capacity. I use these for example, at spots along a long river where the evaporation of the river water can cause the water volume to deplete. By using low capacity (0.10 for example) water spawners periodically along its length I can maintain the river's surface level.

@OP BTW there is a big difference between loosing water and losing water...
To lose and too loose are two different words and meanings ;)

Thank you all for the great tips. This community is so helpful. Forgot to test it last night as I dealt with traffic getting terrible. I fixed it my way and traffic is back up at 84%.
Then I was building the Zoo and forgot the lake as the Zoo was nearly running out of space lol

Found a vid where he uses the drain, it's not the map that i saw there's just too many episodes to go back through but at around 5:48 he uses the drain method
