Business cargo rail - Anyone try this?
So I have this cargo terminal very close to my commercial area. Trains come in unload and then despawn., that is nice but then I made the road connecting to the station a one way outgoing from the station so all the delivery trucks leave, deliver their goods and despawn as well. They don't return to the terminal.

Add to this the garbage and police that need to keep the area clean and crime free. They seems to also go out and pickup trash around the station but also wander around the city picking up trash and once full they despawn where ever they are in the city. So it looks like this cuts down a lot of trucks running around the city. The police station has criminals in the jail? Maybe they teleport them back to the police station.

Yup! Have done it in past like that. I will run an urban rail line with multiple terminals into major commercial areas. Keeps deliveries off highways and then the unload spread about preventing a concentration of trucks.

A piece of "One Way" road need to be both way. It the one between the two T-Section on the left side of the cargo station.

The one way road is by design I don't want anything coming into the terminal, only outgoing. It means all delivery trucks go out deliver their goods and then just disappear. Same thing happens to the garbage trucks. They run around the city collecting garbage and when full just disappear.

I've done similar, but I place the freight train in the center of the commerce district, not on the edge, that limits flow greatly. I use two-way roads as well. One-way is limiting.

I usually have the second one placed in the middle on my Generic Industry, as it send goods directly to commerce only and doesn't choke it with other trains.

But placing the station on the edge really restricts traffic as it all heads in one direction, instead of a full 360 degree around the station when centrally located in your commerce/industry district. Or worse, some place them several blocks away and really chokes them out.

Mark, this is an exploit of the way things work. If I ended up putting it right in the middle of the commercial I would also need to have a garbage dump and police station inside the one way internal loop as well. This setup only allows outgoing delivery trucks from the station. They never return which is what they would do if they have a normal route with which to return to the cargo terminal. This exploits that fact and the second they deliver their goods to the business, they disappear. This means you have no returning trucks adding to the traffic.

You know about this for your export import setup?
