How do you guys Make Straight Cliff Faces?

Having trouble creating a straight Cliff Face against a road without a jagged edge against the road. OR even just a cliff face with no road that goes straight down (not too far) without the jagged lines?

I am trying to create an ore mine with cliff faces that go straight down ... not out.

I understand you can cut into a road ... but that method results in jagged lines.

Open to suggestions.
