We do not speak about the old grain mill.

Boring theory: the grain mill was not structurally sound and portions of it collapsed, crushing many workers. The parts of the building still standing are in danger of falling at any moment, which is why it's not safe, and poses serious risk to anyone who enters.

Super theory! : the mill was the site of a cult ritual where many willingly threw themselves into the grinding wheels of the mill to be ground into bloody paste, and the place is now haunted, which is why it's not safe, and poses serious risk to anyone who enters.

Side note: can anyone create an Old Grain Mill ploppable asset I can place on the edge of my town?

Well, if it's anything like the old grain mill where I grew up a lot of teenage boys lost their virginity there and a lot of girls got pregnant.

And, of course, rumor has it that it's where an old satanic cult used to perform it's rituals.... except "Old satanic cult" = late 80's/early 90's-era misfit teenagers and "perform it's rituals" = pass around the two cigarettes and one can of warm beer they stole from their parents while complaining about how f'ed up the world is".

The company that owned it suddenly went belly up during the Depression. Somehow one of the grain silos wasn't emptied out, and remained about 2/3's full. Then in the late 90's some dumb kids decided to hold a post-prom rave there. Investigators believe that during the party the conveyor machinery was somehow activated, which caused all the built up grain dust to become airborne. Since the place was built before any sort of modern fire codes or dust suppression methods when the silo exploded and collapsed the nearby main building (where the rave was at). The two structures then caught fire. and the majority of those inside were trapped, either by being buried under debris or because they couldn't find an exit.

In the immediate aftermath the state inspected the remaining buildings for any sort of similar dangers and found none. The state then fenced it up, but due to legal reasons they never tore it down. Nor could they go after the former owners, because neither that company or the bank are around anymore. And no one wants to buy the property because they'd have to incur extra costs to demolish the remaining buildings, and out of fear that some lawyer would go after them for what happened to those kids on that awful night.

Time to clear this up once and for all...

The guy that owned the old old grain mill didn't like the guy who owned the new old grain mill so the old old grain mill owner who owned the old grain mill got his old mate who wasn't involved the the old old grain mill or the new old grain mill as he had an old saw mill, it wasn't the new old saw mill but the old old saw mill. so this old old saw mill guy was planning to attack the new old saw mill guy , the old new saw mill guy. the old new grain mill guy the new old grain mill guy, but the guy who owned the old old paper mill who was friends with the new old grain mill guy saw what the old old saw mill guy was going to do to the new old saw mill guy new old grain mill guy for the old old grain mill guy, the new old grain mill guy wasn't there that awful awful night when the things happened that nobody talks about.
