First time using Asset Editor : How to change Vehicle type properly?

So I modified a Tram asset, and converted it to Train vehicle by using the Asset ItemClass mod, but when I load the asset in-game by using Advanced Vehicle Options, only the engine shows up as Train, the trailers still remain as Tram. I tried changing the ItemClass but its settings are global, I selected the trailers but the dropdown panel on the right remains the same.

From what it looks like I am missing something, I don't know what it is and I can't find a Guide about this anywhere.

That site only contains a short description of the feature but does not explain it by step-by-step.

There's a few Tram-train assets but they do not explain how they created it, only a short description of how to convert them into Trams, while I wanted the opposite: tram to train.

Do you have MOM mod and/or snowfall DLC? I read something about needing those to be able to convert the trams to trains.

I searched high and low as well and yep, nothing really explains it good.
