NullReferenceException striking again
Hello guys,
few days ago I unsubscribed to few vehicles I've been not using. Today I tried to play the game so as always, I launched it and run the savegame. Loading Screen Mod told me nothing but after savegame was loaded I got spammed with "NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object" error. I tried to sub/unsub many mods and assets I recently was interacting with (mainly these vehicles I unsubbed but there were too many for me to remember) but with no success. So I casually launched game with --noWorkshop and game was working nicely. So I tried to search Loading Screen Mod report for a missing assets, but only props were listed there and also, there was no single unsubbed vehicle listed here unfortunately. After few hours of trying to fix it I gave up and decided to start a new map. And guess what? I am still spammed with this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ error.
By the way, since my first try to play, Find It mod does not display magnifying glass icon in the bottom panel (mod itself works and I can click area where normally icon would be) which I think has to do with my problems.

I beg you for help, even if getting old savegame to work is impossible just help me getting game to work.

Oh, and it might seem rude, but I know Unity so please don't explain me what "NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object" means, just help me solve the problem

RICO causes a lot of problems. I deleted that and my problems went away.

Looking at the log, I agree that RICO is the likely culprit in this case. It looks like it's also looking for an enhanced zoom mod as well and cannot seem to find it.

EDIT: There is also an issue involving building unlocks which may also be mod related. Check if you're using any mods that affect the building unlock process.

Just going through the mods list...

Disable Zone Check is no longer maintained. Consider using Plop the Growables mod instead.

Advanced Toolbar mod is bit buggy. Consider using Resize It mod instead.

More Beautification mod causes lag. Consider using Find It mod instead.

Larger Footprints mod is obsolete. Consider removing it, but you'll also have to remove any building assets that required it.

Building Eyedropper Tool is really old. Consider using Move It mod instead (it can copy/paste anything).

Automatic Emptying mod has a bunch of bugs. Consider using Empty It mod instead.

Sub-buildings Enabler is obsolete - the vanilla game now has that built in.

As for Null errors...

NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object
at PloppableRICO.PloppableCommercial.GetConstructionCost () [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0

That one is caused by Ploppabe RICO building which contains props (or some other thing) from a DLC you don't have - most commonly After Dark or Mass Transit dlcs. You've got a few of these errors in the log, but they aren't usually game breaking. There's currently no way to accurately track down which building generates the error as Ploppable RICO mod doesn't output any useful information.

Next up, this one...

NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object
at FPSDisplay.Input.Start () [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0

That's the FPS display mod. Unsubscribe it. A more recent alternative is Monitor It mod.

Then you have an absolute load of these errors:

Simulation error: Object reference not set to an instance of an object
at BuildingAI.CheckUnlocking () [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0

I suspect that is one of the following mods:

# Sub-Buildings Enabler
# NotSoUniqueBuildings
# Unlock All + Wonders & Landmarks

Check the workshop pages for those mods to see if users are commenting errors.

Penultimately, this error:

NullReferenceException
at (wrapper managed-to-native) UnityEngine.Component:get_transform ()
at BuildingThemes.BuildingVariationManager.Reset () [0x00000] in <filename unknown>:0

Building themes mod. Happens on level unloading so you can probably ignore it.

Note that Move It mod spits out some errors during normal operation due to the way it checks for presence of other mods that it integrates with. I've ignored those `ReflectionTypeLoadException` errors in the list above as they don't cause any problems.

Likewise there's two null ref errors that occur in everyone's log, I've ignored those too as they don't cause any issues.

Thanks guys for such specific help, really appreciated. I think problems are caused by mods, not assets as I launched new game without mods enabled but with assets enabled this time and my error wasn't present. Seems like revisit to my mods collection

BTW, Steam has it's own in-built fps display - see Performance Monitoring section in this guide for details: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=465790009

I use plop the growables, then i use building anarchy to place growables inside the shells of unique buildings.
