Map scrolling
Is there a way of binding a mouse button to drag-scroll (hold button and move mouse) the map?

I personally use this for that very reason.

NOTE: the scrolling is in the right mouse button and is disabled when ANY tool is being used for the right mouse button is to cancel the tool in use. Example the scroll can't be used while building roads for the right mouse button is to cancel the road tool. I mention this because everyone or most everyone who tries this mod says it is broken.
Also if you are using a first person view mod or another Zoom mod this one will do those functions too and better in my opinion So un-sub those mods first. When you get use to this tool/mod there is an add on mod to increase the zoom factor even more. Yes TMI.
I have not found a way to scroll without a mod.

If you have a mouse with a center wheel that also clicks, you can zoom in and out using the wheel and press the wheel to pivot your view. It works well enough with edge scrolling to get around I guess. I used that over the weekend at a friend's house to explain some stuff. Personally, I prefer WASD with the mouse, but I use a cheap secondary controller so I'm not stuck to the keyboard.

I reset the keys so my pinky is on tab, which is now spacebar, and my fingers rest comfortably on the A, W and D keys (with the S right below the W,) then the thumbpad is Q for rotating things. It works great once you get used to it, and will also make you better at other games.

You did read the question, right?
The zooming is still in the middle mouse button with the mod but has greater strength.
Here a a clip that uses this mouse scrolling.
