building a dam
So i thought i'd build a hydro dam but make it more like a reservoir behind with a river from a mountain to fill it but it only seems to fill halfway up. How do i get it to fill fully so the dam produces electricity? I tried putting the water derectly in the reservoir but when i try adjusting the height it does all the rivers and sea so because its well above sea level it just floods the city. Do i need to make it at sea level to make it work?

Dams work by using a downward flow to push turbines which are connected to generators. With this knowledge in mind, you will need to put your dam in a place where there is a downward flow, and a good current. Additionally, there must be a difference in water level on both sides of the dam. The water level behind the dam should be much higher than in front of the dam.

If you put the dam in a place with these conditions, the water will slowly fill behind the dam. If the water does not fill up, you can use the terrain manipulator to create artificial current and water imbalance (by dumping dirt behind the dam.)
