Fresh water outlets
Yeah, about the new "Fresh water outlets", in the description there stands "...it can be freely placed on dry land..." but when I try it, it says "shoreline required". Is that some kind of bug or mod conflict? Or is it on purpose?

In order to place it inland on dry land you need to terraform somewhere for the water to go... a hole, a stream, a pond, whatever. In any case whatever you dig out will naturally have a 'shoreline'.

Thanks for the reply but it doesn't work. A earthquake hit my city and I wanted to fill the crack with water but that didn't work. It only works on land where water is already available...

I think it needs an area of lowered land, I haven't worked out how to use them to the benefit of my city yet. Can you post a screenshot of the areas you are trying to place them?

Benefit is when you have fire choppers and the water is a long way from the city. Create a pond (hole) near the city, setup a freshwater outlet there and your choppers gets it water from there.

I had this problem initially with the water outlets as well, I'd dig a hole and try and place the outlet and it'd tell me I couldn't Not sure how, or why, but it works now. It's very useful to build a reservoir near your fire station heliports so the choppers don't have to leave the station, fly to the river/lake/ocean to collect water and then back to the fire. They simply get the water from right there! Only thing is you do have to monitor the reservoir to make sure it won't flood. Wish there was a mechanic that'd shut off the outlet once the water level gets to a certain height and shut it off without having the little dongle above it telling me its off.

Is your simulaton running when you place it? Often times when you teraform in pause the game doesn't recgonize you have done anything..like when you fix shorelines you have to run the game until the water and stuff settles before placing that harbor or pump.

I'm having this same problem whether the simulation is running or not. It seems the only area I can place the Fresh Water Outlet is on an actual shoreline where there's already water present.

Are you sure it is saying 'Shoreline Required'? Because it should say 'Shoreline Recommended'.

I've gotten around this by placing it along a shoreline and using the MoveIt! mod to move it where I actually want it :P
i have created a reservoir, but i cant place the water outlet, any ideas on why, i try and says shore line required.

I don't think the op cares tbh. How about you create your own thread rather than gravedig this old one and hijack it for your own issue?
