Disaster Response Unit not doing it's job
When I have disasters like an earthquake (only had 1) or a tornado (also had 1, although the water system went offline during the tornado), the response unit does nothing. I made an excluded area for it, higher than the city, it's own power supply, it's own water and sewage system, fire, police and I have the Weather Station and The Meteor Detection Building (not the real name, I know). This section is however connected with the city via a road (National Road, from a mod (forgot the name of the mod)) which goes through a tunnel. It is also located in the middle of the city (kinda). Does the building have a radius as the earthquake happened on the other side of the city? I play with a lot of mods and assets. The map I'm using is called Heavenly Island.
Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,

The DRU has only one purpose and that is rescuing people from collapsed buildings. They do so by sending trucks and helicopters to the collapsed buildings and then make them remove/rebuildable afterwards. If it's a zoned structure you can either use the buldozer or let it be and it will be replaced with a new building over time. However if it's a building or structure that you placed out yourself, you can left-click it and repair it for a minor cost after it's been cleared out by the DRU.

To handle different disasters you can do this:
- Build a pumping station to deal with flooded buildings after tsunamis or floods
- Build a fire helo-station to deal with forrest fires
- Build shelters to try saving your poor citizens when the disaster is imminent
- Build warning systems and radio stations to reduce the death-toll in your city

That being said, I myself have an issue where barely any citizens evacuate to my shelters, so it could be some bugs or issues with the expansion that didn't show up until after the release :/

Thanks for the advice and I hope this works, thanks!

They are very slow if the disaster is a major one .. Just had a random tsunami hit my city, over 5 million in the bank and lost the lot waiting for the search and rescue to deem buildings to be safe to be rebuilt. Am going to try extra DRU in the city and see if the response time is quicker.

Could just pause the game and manually bulldoze and rebuild your city services, but I think that robs from the disaster experience a bit.

I am having lots of fun with this new dlc tho. :)

A nice tip is to keep your emergency-budget around 60-75% until a disaster is imminent, then max it for awhile. Because then you will suddenly get a lot more vehicles and effectiveness from your DRU's while you at the same time keeps the costs low otherwise.

Only downside is that the budget includes your fire depts. as well, so it would probably be really bad to go below 60%, as you would need more firestations to cope with the number of vehicles available to respond in each part of your city.

Good tip, cheers .. Just build 30% more fire stations to fill the gap and increase response time during disasters .. its a win-win. :)

Good advice, however yesturday I had a 9.8 tornado and they did their job, however it is good advic to increase the budget after a disaster to have more units. Thanks!
